Already bought Tie fighter and XvT, hopefully XvT can support multiplayer, which its advertised to do... Although even if it doesn't, some of the missions will be fun to fly. I also got my X-wing CD to work on my current machine as well, so after school gets out it many hours will be sunk into this game...again.

It's playable, you just can't use the escape button or navigate the menus once you start playing. It's quick save/load or nothing.

All that's missing for me is the music, which makes it strangely atmospheric in some cases.

There is an unofficial patch that fixes these issues. Or at least I remember there being one a couple years ago.

Which versions are better between GoG and Steam for running on Windows 8.1? Are they essentially the same?

That's unfortunate I know DF3-JK2 works fine I have dug out my original disks recently and played it, I sucked I've gotten used to modern shooters and lost my edge.

GoG versions have a dos box presetup so they are compatible with newer OS I don't know about steam.

I remember LAN gaming this in college, and once i set up a sabre duel with a friend of mine, we both stared each other down, each getting ready to make thefirst move.. then he pulled out the concussion rifle and blew me up.

I was so shocked I was like "He shot me!, With a gun!".

GB will be for running co-op RPGs for star wars.

Funny thing is that I know how to use dosbox, and have all the CDs.

I've no problem buying all these again to support series that I truly love.

I beat the entire second half of Jedi Academy with Force Choke.
