Leaving the Map through Entrance/Exit

Not entirely sure what use it would have been, but someone in our group recently was wondering if he could move off the map through the entrance during one of the quests. The quest itself said nothing about being able to leave the map.

I'm pretty sure you can't just decide to move off the map (to avoid an attack from a monster or something) and come back next turn, but I said I'd double check?

I'd say - No, you cannot abritrarily move off the map, unless the Quest allows it.

The Rulebook, pg 9, Moving off the Map, states " Some quests allow figures to move off the map ."

Well, that's my two cents worth.

Yea, the paragraph didn't come across as too clear.

Though reading it again it says "Normally figures cannot move through the walls along the edge of a map tile.". The Entrance and Exit do have said black border so I guess that's a no, unless the quest allows it as you pointed out.

This is the case- you cannot move off the map unless the quest allows it, and then only in the manner that it allows (usually by spending a movement point at the entrance or exit.) If a hero is tired of getting knocked out repeatedly, he can decide not to stand up on his turn and simply take no actions.

Agreed. Also, before moving off the map in a quest which allows it, you may want to double-check what rules (if any) govern coming back onto the map later. There may not be any, and if there aren't any, you can't do it.
