Waiting through the Silence

By Beatty, in Star Wars: Armada

I know I am not bathe only one but I will say even though I have been busy lately I still find myself checking the Upcoming page daily and looking for Any word, good or bad, as to what is happening with wave 1. (And for you Captain Obviouses yes I know it's on a boat. :P)

I know it will be at least a couple of weeks but I am surprised FFG has not said anything about what is currently the projected time table, and that kind of bothers me. I'd almost rather have an estimated time that could change than not having one at all.

Anyone else feel bothered by the silence?

*psst*.. soon; I'm waiting to hear an official date, but as of today Wave 1 is on the move.

Well, if wave 1 is on the move, I'd imagine it's about 2-3 weeks away from our homes.

we love newt!

So stoked for these ships to come in!

My FLGS says that they are tentatively expecting Wave 1 the second week of May on their Facebook page, so crossing my fingers here.

Just after the semester is over. Not bad timing, universe!

Im just grateful that the core sets got out.

Still not available here in NZ yet, got mine from the UK

Everytime I see Newt named, I think of the small child hiding in a crawlspace with wild blond hair.

Ripley: These people are here to protect you. They're soldiers.
Newt: It won't make any difference.

Newt, we who are about to die in burning cap-ships salute you!

They mostly come out at night... mostly.

Well, of course, "they mostly come out at night", it's dark in outer space............................we are talking capital ships, right?....................RIGHT?! ;)

Thanx, Newt!

Considering the fact that wave 1 has a full retail price of $190, I can afford the wait.

I would rather get my fill with the core set before having to "get wave 1." Fore those who do not purchase all 8 wave 1 ships outright, there is going to be a second waiting period. Sure wave 1 is going to add a lot to the game, but even when it comes out, a lot of the ships will sell out and then the stores will need to re-order. I do not see the store buying a lot of volume, or at least as much as say x-wing. In some ways I would argue wave 1 is going to me more frustrating than the initial wait. Most people will have to plan their wave 1 purchases in several purchases.

Accordingly, I would recommend playing the core set, finding what you really want, buying that when it arrives, then buying the rest as it becomes available. Wave 1 is really going to be a test of the budget for most people.

Are you not planning on buying wave 1 from an online store?

Assuming you are in the US, you can buy a single copy of wave 1 for $121 from cardhaus.

That's $70 cheaper than retail and much more manageable. Still expensive to be sure, but better than near $200

Tonight I pre-ordered one of each wave 1 expansion.

I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of them and to me that's value for money.

I really try to buy from the LGS first. All of wave 1 will find room to be played, but wow it's a punch to the wallet. I will de definately be buying wave 1 in waves.

Some of us play hope to play this game in game stores and hope those game stores will hold events as well. Why would a store support a game, if no one is going to buy that game in the store.

If you are just going to play at home with friends, sure buy everything on line. But if you plan to play at an LGS it's in both your interest to buy some of your product there.

After this, I don't think I will pre-order wave 2.

I never pre-order anything until it's been on the boat for at least 6 weeks.

I just want to be able to play with some more options is all. At the end of the day, you really have no choice other than to wait till it gets here or quit the game. I already quit X-Wing. I'm not dropping this one.

Got to support the FLGS. I know it's more expensive, and some people simply cannot spend the extra money to prop up an inefficent business practice, but that "inefficent business practice" is a public space for gaming, and meeting gamers.

I won't be playing in tournaments, but I do play at a particular store sometimes. I buy a few things there for imperial assault and xwing, but not higher priced items.

Im sure it is in some cases...

I'd be more open to buying from gaming stores if those stores in my area would find a more common ground between full msrp and online prices.

I find it highly frustrating waiting without any communication. I would rather see it is out at the FLGS.

I don't pre-order anything from FFG anymore else the stats changes to shipping. It is painful waiting for the information that seems to never come. If FFG did fond out enough information to change the latest update to 4-29 it would be great to know what little info they did get. Oh well, I will just keep waiting and playing with proxy squads for now.

i just saw a photo of wave 1 from a distributor on our Armada group page.

I just pre-order from my FLGS. They do give me a discount (15%), but I also help out the place I play at. I tend to pre-order fairly early on. Sure, it's a long wait, but so what.

Obviously, some people are on tighter budgets than I am. Nevertheless, I don't blanket-buy everything. I pre-order those things that intrigue me the most, and are going to be the most likely things I'll play. (e.g. I'm not likely to play rebels, so I don't have any rebel ships on pre-order.) If certain cards become necessary, I'll re-evaluate later.

Link or it didn't happen. ;)
