Double mine?

By Chris R, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I know Extra Munitions isn't out yet, but with the card text already revealed I have a question...

For this scenario I would be using a Scum Y-wing with "Genius", Bomb Loadout, Extra Munitions, and either Proximity Mines or Cluster Mines (which I presume will be deployed similarly to Proximity mines).

If I use "Genius" to drop 1 mine and discard my munitions token after executing a maneuver on one turn can I then, on the next turn, opt out of using "genius" to place a second mine before my maneuver in the footprint of the first mine? Or is there any rule preventing mines from overlapping?

There is no rule against mines/bombs overlapping, that would be totally legal.

Edit: although genius only works on bombs that would be dropped before you moved, which does not include the proxy mines (Which are dropped with an action). You could however move and drop the proxy mine, then use advanced sensors to drop a second proxy mine before you moved on top of the other one (if it was on a ship that can take bombs/system upgrades).

There is not currently a ship with Advanced Sensors, Bomb, and Torpedo slots.

However, you can use Emon Azzameen's ability to drop a Proximity/Cluster Mine behind himself with the 1 template, then move a 1 forward and drop a Proximity Mine behind himself with the 3 template.

They will be offset by a 1 maneuver template.

Need to double check but I believe Bombs are restricted to one per turn.

They are.

My comment included a gap of a turn, thus the maneuver.

You could use Inertial Dampeners on a Scum Firespray.

And not have an action for dropping a bomb, or to not have a dial to reveal to drop a bomb.

ID and IEDs don't mix, apparently :D
