Anyone Statted out a Belbullab-22 Star Fighter?

By RebelDave, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I LOVED this Starfighter when I saw in Ep3.

Its clearly inspired by a 60s muscle car (Unsurprising given Lucas' love of classic cars), it even sounds like one.

But I cannot find any stats in the books for it.

What would be a good stand in stats for it, or would you make any changes?

Without much to base it on, My first instinct would be to sub in the Cloakshape's stats.

Agreed. Cloakshape, remove the concussion missiles, upgrade from light to medium laser cannons, add a single point of shields maybe. It doesn't seem like much else is needed....

OK... not that I am disagreeing.. but what is your thinking behind those suggestions? Rather than say... a Y-Wing or X-Wing for example.

I know Wookieepedia lists it as a Heavy Fighter.. so maybe not as nimble as an X-Wing (Not to mention much older).

And its probably more nimble than a Y-Wing.

But I know nothing about the Cloakshape.

So I was just wondering why you picked that one?

I did up the Belbullab-24 some time ago, which was the strike-bomber version:

Sil 3, Speed 4, Handling 1, Fore/Aft Defence 1/1, Armour 3, Hull 10, SS 8, Hard Points 3

Hyperdrive 6x, Backup x15 (Not so sure about those... but it was canon at the time)

Enc Cap 5, Nav-Comp, Crew 1

Consumables 7 days

Cost @70-100k Avail 6

Weapons-

1 Hull mounted triple Medium Laser Cannon

1 Hull mounted twin Conc Launcher (Ammo 3)

The 22 wasn't that much different, though from memory it had 6 laser cannons in 2x3 setup and may or may not have had a hyperdrive. There where sort of 'hotrods' though and pretty popular to do up, so I think 3HP is ok for that, plus you can stick a droid socket in there and not suck so much.

It's less about the cloakshape's fluff and more about it's stats.

The 22 is a clone wars era craft, so the Z-95 and Y-wing are the two statted craft we have from the same time period. While classified as a "Heavy" fighter, it's not a multicrew fighter/bomber, so it's lighter then a Y-wing. The Z-95 on the other hand is too light to be "heavy", so ya gotta go tougher then that.

Now look at the Cloakshape. It's in the same Sil and speed class. It's tougher, with better HT, and lower Handling, giving it a heavier feel compared to the 95, but it's still lighter than the Y-wing.

But the light lasers aren't right for a "heavy" so upgrade to medium. It's not listed as having missiles, so strip those (linked medium lasers are pretty nasty when you really run the numbers TBH). And if it's a Heavy then a point of shields makes plenty of sense...

We have a few more pre-CloneWars fighters (The Z-95 was a design series that was over 100 years old and the model in the book predated the war if memory serves. The Lancets from Suns of Fortune are pre Clone Wars. (They first appeared in a novel set shortly before the Phantom Menace and a few other fighters from Stay on Target are pre-Clone Wars as well or Cone Wars era craft.

Nice reasoning, thank you
