Hello everyone,

Thought I would say Hi to the new guy around here. Ive started playing the XWing Miniatures game. I got the core set for Christmas but found the instructions a little overwhelming. After a few months, my friend started showing me a few videos of the game being played. That was the hook I needed. Ive only had one game this far, and i rather enjoyed it. This of course caused me to go buy some of the additional ships. I have purchased the Tie Advanced, Tie Phantom, Slave 1, Millennium Falcon, A-Wing, and B-Wing.

I'm looking forward to reading how other players build squads and good combinations for some of the ships I have. Hopefully I wont ask to many silly questions. Either way “Hi” from the new guy and looking forward to conversing with you all :)

Welcome , I'm new to the boards myself but been playing X-wing for a bit now , nice start to your collection btw. Have you decide what faction you are going to focus on (if you do)?

Anyways again welcome !

Thanks Scruffy!

Ive really only played twice. It reminds me much like a RTS and its Star Wars! God help me when Battlefront comes out in November.

Personally, I've always had a love of the Empire ships. In watching some tourtments online, the phantom seems to be OP and if you can get a swarm toegther its pretty easy to overwhelm the other ships. I may try an X-wing/B-Wing combo and see how that works.

Welcome to the forums! You should see if there is a local gaming group near you. Having someone take you under their wing and easy to find other players is a good thing.

Enjoy!

Thanks Heychadwick :D

I guy I work with helps run some of the table games around here and Ive picked his brain a few times. If I can tune my game a little bit with some friends I play with I may even try a tourtment. Right now its more of a geek craving and a few friends enjoying outplanning the other :)

Most people at a tournament are there just to have fun. I say go with little experience and you will learn a lot.

Thanks Scruffy!

If you think the Phantom looks OP, you should check out the latest FAQ. It nerfs the phantom a bit. Plus, the FAQ will help you be on the same page as other players you may come across.

But if you take one look at the FAQ and feel overwhelmed, then don't hesitate to bag it for now and come back to it later. Getting these things on the table and having the time of your life is way more important than getting caught up in the rules when you're just getting started.

welcome! be ready to make some space on ur shelf for more ships! im at about 40 and counting. a modest collection compared to some ive seen. i love this game. its simple enough to play but the strategy and list building has loads of depth. x-wing casual play or competitive play, whichever you prefer... there is plenty to like!

Thanks for the FAQ! Ive just read through it and printed a copy for when I play next (May 4th :D ) I see how its toned down the phantom a bit. But still a nice lil ship.

Thanks Brown_bomber! Yea I got paid today so it could be a trip to the local Games store this weekend to pick up some more. The next one on my list is the Y-Wing, Tie Bomber, and Dash Rendar's YT (Loved shadows of the empire) so slowly start building... I already have an expensive collection of Star Wars Legos... This just seems fitting to add it in :)

Hey Lykwid :) I have an alarming number of ships that I virtually never play (although the upgrades they bring to the game are used quite a bit). I started off using mostly rebels but then discovered the firespray and the Lambda Shuttle :) (I had a few bomber lists in there at some time too). Then the B-Wings and Falcon with headhunters were a thing for me and now there is Scum ships to try. The game is evolving fast which adds to the depth of gameplay and choices but subtracts from the thickness of your wallet in equal amounts! I enjoy the options and customizability of x-wing. You have a huge amount of choice once you get a reasonable mix of ships.
