Mangler changes hit to crit and Bossk changes crit to 2 hits? Sounds pretty fun. Or does this fall under "can't modify a dice twice"?
Is it better than HLC though?

Edited by Rakky WistolYou have to hit with the attack first before you can swap the crit for two hits. I think Calculation+rec spec+K4+engine with HLC being optional being the standard Bossk.
HLC states that you must immediately turn all crits to hits...don't think Bossk would be able to turn the a Crit into two Hits, unless the crit was from a reroll course.
that's what the calculation + rec spec would be for. HLC changes crits to hits, calc changes 1 eye to crit. 2nd focus could be used to change rest of the eyes to hits.

Off topic, but it needs to be said. There is no rule against modifying a die more than once. You cannot reroll a die that has already been rerolled, but you can otherwise modify it.
Bosk will pretty much always want either Mangos or-if taking Gunner- Calculating.
I think Mangler might be fun on Bossk.
I can almost see HLC(maybe), gunner, Marksmanship.
I think Calculation and Recon Spec can be subbed for Marsmanship to save a point quite well. With 1 agility the extra focus is mediocre.
And Gunner is really useful.
Problem with any cannon is restriction to front arc. Would prefer something that affects primary attack to take advantage of that 180 arc. I like the idea of calculation with K4. I'm sure the mathwingers can work out whether recspec is worth the points or not.
HLC and Merc Co-Pilot would be great for some super range 3 damage.
I honestly wouldn't try tripping over myself to enable Bossk
the ability has a few restrictions, most pertinently the "an attack that hits" portion which doesn't make it nearly as powerful as it might seem at first glance.
I think Mangler is a great investment (even if isn't better than HLC, it's cheaper), but I'm not sure I'd shore up the EPT slot with calculations when you could be using predator (or, if you're crazy, outmanuever
) or possibly S.O.T (the combo with outlaw tech is
shipped in the box
)
Also, apart from the modifying dice twice clause not existing, Bossk doesn't "turn" a crit into two hits. He cancels a die and then adds two hit results .
Edited by ficklegreendiceLike I said in the other Bossk thread:
Bossk
—Mangler
—Expert Handling
—K4 Security Droid
—Hound's Tooth title
Rock and roll for 50 points. No idea what the Maneuvering Vanes do yet but they might wind up there too. I think the Mango crit working as a Direct Hit every time it goes through is definitely worth the price, but I am curious if a more barebones Bossk build will show up. He seems pretty reasonable at 35 to start, but 6 for the title might be a bit much. Depends on how well the deploy mechanic works.

Yeah Bossk lite will be a thing, I think you're underselling fat Bossk though. Unless the dial is HWK-tier horrible, combined with engine, fat Bossk will pump out the dmg faster than almost every other ship.
So bossk's ability means his first crit can always be a "direct hit" if it goes through?
Is that a fair reading?

In a manner of speaking, if there are no shields, yes. Both result in two points of damage.
According to a saboteur, who is a very good friend of mine, a face-up direct hit is not the same as two face-down damage cards.

For that matter, Bossk's ability is a direct upgrade to an automatic Direct Hit! if your opponent still has shields...

He could also bring Greedo along for the ride.

Oh dang. For one point? Done and done.

Edited by TsiegtiezGreedo doesn't work. It doesn't add a crit. Just forces a damage card to be face up.Oh dang. For one point? Done and done.He could also bring Greedo along for the ride.

He does flip the first of those damages face-up, turning a crit into a crit and a hit

Fair enough. But that's no better on him than on any other pilot. And with 6 hull he's not liking those face up cards either.(Granted nobody does, but I figure Greedo's a better fit with Ion packing Hawks)
Well yes, but there's only room for one in the Pup : D I figure Bossk has less to worry about with Greedo onboard than most!
Edited by TsiegtiezN'dru needs Cluster Missiles, other than that looks great.

imo, you need some kind of guaranteed damage reduction or some super maneuverability (or an excessive combination of both + a bloody turret) to qualify as a viable "fat" ship, otherwise you just get plinked to death hard.
The Hound has a very chunky profile and a great price-tag, but unlike either the 'spray or the aggressor it lacks a.) more than 1 agility b.) evades
No word about the 180 firing arc until I've put it on the table, but while I'm loving the chance to play with it I don't know how it will contribute to the ship's maneuverability. The spray's auxiliary arc gives you quite a bit of flexibility i.t.o positioning and still having shots, turrets give an excessive amount thereof, but this new "arc" is difficult to gauge (especially without the dial)
Now, I'm willing to believe that the hound will be a great "anti-fattie" (stack tacticians: profit
) especially with Bossk pushing damage through low-agility ships like yts or decimators.
