Flurry after Flurry

By AndrewMM, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Basic II's Flurry card:

Play this card after rolling attack dice. Surge: make an additional attack after this one, adding green die. (reworded)

Say I attack with a monster, and I have a surge. I play Flurry, and use the surge to make another attack afterwards. I manage to defeat the hero, so I draw a card, but first I need to shuffle the deck. Say the card I draw is Flurry again. Can I play the card in this second attack, to make a third one?

That's a really rare scenario, but I don't see why you couldn't. The second attack is a distinct attack from the first one, so you're not playing "flurry" twice on the same attack roll. What is unclear is actually whether "Flurry" would go into the reshuffle, or if it would stay on the table until you made the second attack (since that's part of the effect of the card), and THEN go into the discard pile.

Yeah, thanks. That's what I thought, but I wanted to be sure, just in case I was missing something (which is likely to happen in this game). Rare scenario, for sure, but on THAT moment, is when you will think "why didn't I ask for this before?"

And well, the same would go for any other card played on the same attack.

PS. Now I think of a lieutenant being "Blood rage'd", attacking with "Her majesty's malice", then playing Flurry.... twice. Even if that makes me lose the quest, I'd do it just for the fun of it.

I think this scenario works because the target and circumstances have changed from one attack to the next. But still need to be careful with whats played.

Pg 16 in the base game rule book states: "Two Overlord cards with the same name cannot be played on the same target in response to the same triggering condition."

Absolutely true- but I interpret the second attack as a completely new attack roll, not a reroll of a previous one- and the trigger for flurry is "rolling attack dice."

I am not sure but i think you have to shuffle your overlord deck, when you draw the last card. Maybe it is to prevent such scenarios like yours.

You're totally right, sir. I stand corrected. I was probably thinking of Rune Age, when you only shuffle at the moment you want to draw, and there is no deck.

Well, this still could happen if you manage to defeat two heroes with the first attack.... The Search for the Unlikeliest , anyone?

Yes, if you defeat two heroes, this will work. If you use Fire Breath (Shadow Dragon, Hybrid Sentinel), Blast (Crypt Dragon), Pincer Attack (Arachyura) or Flail (Merriod) you can achieve that. Hard but possible.
