How to fly this dealio... I'm scared Dave...

By HatchDog, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Ok folks, so I often read the "how is this list" posts, but never have entered one.... We have a tourney coming up with eight guys, and we've all submitted our squads (can't change them now)... Below is mine,

TEN NUMB
VI
mangler cannon
FCS

DASH RENDAR
PTL
mangler cannon (I'm scared of the donut hole)
Outrider
Nien numb as crew (to give me more green options, Kyle katan was cool, but I figured it would make me predictable with the greens

BANDIT
With nothing

I figured I'd throw it out to the geniuses at FFG, to tell me:

1. Is it any good, or have I listed myself into a hole? (we all wrote our own lists, didn't just copy the top world champs or whatever)

2. How would you fly it?

I figured it was handy having 2 decent guys, instead of just one great ship and a bunch of flappy birds making up the numbers. The mangler of ten numb was supposed to give out a uncancellable crit, and while dash would zip about shooting from all places. The Z was the flappy bird making up the numbers... smile.gif

Keep the B and Z together and let Dash go wild?

I throw myself at the mercy of the court!

Fly the bandit with Ten to start (and yes, let Dash go wild) then when the enemy approaches use the bandit to block them up if you can, that way you'll give Ten a better choice of shots against targets without actions.

eh...

imo, there is nothing more worthless in this game than the single bandit

it's just...bad. It sticks out like a sore thumb, slows down whatever list its in, and ultimately just gives up free points. Imo, bandits have to come in #s or nothing.

In my experience, you're better off cannibalizing it for more stuff on your two fat bastards (c3po on Ten, HLC on dash + points left over for the kyle + engine super build)

option # 2 is less efficient for this specific list, and it's the Prototype pilot

the lone prototype is easily worth the upgrade over the lone bandit (once you start running multiples, that +3 per ship starts to stack up quick and you'll want the bandit again)

sadly, there's nothing I would cut from either named pilot to get the A-wing in there

Hey mate, thanks for the list advice, but as I said, I can't change the list now, so I suppose I'm more looking for the best way to fly it...

Sinlge bandits are awesome if you use them right. They are best as blockers, just getting in the opponents way, and they are low enough in target priority that they often get overlooked. When ignored they can be a real pain, but if they do get shot at, then those are shots not fired at your heavy hitters.
