What is a better up grade for a Tie Interceptor?
Autothrusters or Stealth Device?
And is Targeting Computer worth it?

I prefer Stealth Device to Autothrusters, but that's gonna depend on your local meta. I'd always go both of those, personally, before cramming in Targeting Computer, but that's gonna depend on your personal playstyle. I tend to run expensive Interceptors (Fel, Jax, etc), so I double up on defensive goodies to try and keep 'em alive.
I'm not a fan of the targeting computer - better to spend those points and actions on keeping the Inerceptor alive longer (and thereby dealing more damage, which makes up for the decreased output from not having target lock).
I'll usually take Autothrusters first, and then buy Hull Upgrade if I'm getting a second - I'd rather take the guarantee than a gamble.
Plus, the reaction from my opponents when they deal 3 damage (or 1+Direct Hit!) and don't kill the Interceptor is priceless. ![]()
Autothruster is way more valuable than Stealth Device, in my experience. It's an autoinclude on any squint, because the reroll the conversion is both more powerful and more permanent than one additional die.
As Critias said they combo extremely well, though I actually prefer AT + Shield as my go to superceptor. Targeting Computer is powerful and can help chew through thick hulls, but I find that a focus is usually good enough.
Edited by BaronFelIf you aren't playing a tournament, and know that your opponent is NOT running a turret, Stealth Device is better. That's the only time. If you are entering a tournament or any other unpredictable environment, Autothrusters is a must. Though, honestly, it's best to have both, with Push. Targeting computer is occasionally worth it in Soontir, but he is the only pilot you should. That is a personal preference. If you're takingTC, , then give up stealth, not AT.
I tend to prefer autothrusters over stealth device. Too many times i've wiffed my first dodge and lost the stealth device.
Using the autothrusters can still be usefull even if the opponent has no turrets, you just need to try and get the first exchange to happen at long range. It requires a little more skill to try and stay at long range, but it can be really effective.
Having said that, if you can use the royal guard title and run both it will infuriate turreted opponents.

It's a straight conversion, not a re-roll.

Thanks. I'm an idiot sometimes.
I don't trust Stealth Device on anything short of Fel going full on turtle-mode. I've blown it off in the first round of shooting way too many times to put my faith in it. So, Autothrusters all the way. Shield Upgrade for Anti-vader protection if I have the points (And I usually don't).
Targeting Computer is rather Niche. I'd only go with it if I was running Vessery, although I'd prefer it on Academy pilots to interceptors.

royal guard title with both stealth device and auto thrusters with push the limit

I mean, if Baron Fel says it, then who can really argue?
Though I do think that a Target Lock simply isn't good enough an action on the fragile speedster.
It's the only purely-offensive upgrade in the game.
It's technically higher damage than a Focus action, in that it can Crit in this round, and it carries over to another round if you don't want to use it, but its fractions-of-an-attack are better spent with a Barrel-Roll or Boost to GAIN an attack, or even better, to cause your opponent to lose the attack as well.
I have never seen an x wing used in a tournament at all, in fact I haven't seen one on a table in a store game, we used them when learning the game and now find it useless in the game, the ship just does not ever look like a good idea when building a list.
After reading this I asked the guys at both stores that have an x wing game night and everyone of them consider the ship a poor choice in tournament play, the dial is poor, making it hard to get a ship into its arc which is its only strong point 3 AV, the agility is poor
Edited by bmwriderPersonally I like the Autothrusters and targeting computer, that way one action can be to get out of arc and another is an offensive one, on fel the combination of auto focus and target lock can be brutal
Hull and shield upgrades are best.. stealth is nice with hull, but I find AT to be more useless than handy (best against turrets, but only good at range 3 in arc).. I rarely use it.. TC is fine on Fel now and again, but hardly the upgrade of choice..
just my 2 CR
AT is awesome if you fight turrets alot but less useful against fighters it really depends on your local group.
I don't and never have rated SD it's not reliable, shield upgrades are a sure thing.

Wrong thread, I take it?
But yes, Autothrusters are now pretty much a must include for Interceptors. Soontir Fel plus Royal Guard Title, Autothrusters & Stealth Device is pretty much insane. Even if you get a shot on him, he's probably just going to laugh it off.
If you have the points at+shield upgrade is awesome, protect s you against vader or bombs. I just cant seem to find that 1 point to replace stealth device with though.
Autothruster is a must in my meta because turrets are still very popular. I sometimes risk adding a targeting computer as well on Soontir, simply because sometimes you need the extra damage to pierce someone's defense.
Best upgrade for interceptors are bigger threads next to them.
The first Regional intellegence out of Sweeden indicates that the decimator and falcon are allive and well. Autothrusters is a better buy in that situation than stealth. I like both, and have had great days when the dice are hot with stealth, but you can't lean on the dice too much. I'm planning on autothrusters and shields for my squints.
