When a player uses an effect that lets them recover a card from their ditch can the opponent A. Request to see the opposing discard pile before they draw, or B. Request to know what was pulled from the discard pile? This is all said under the assumption that the card doesn't require the pulled card to be shown.
Pulling from discard question?
I think the discard and remove from the game pile are public areas and any player can request to see your discard or removed and ask you to see the card you just pulled from those areas.
Unfortunately, yes to both. It definitely takes away from the element of surprise of trickery you could have had it the exact wording of the card was followed. Hearing this made me love Freewill just a little bit less.
The reasoning behind it, is to save time. As Malk said, since those areas are public knowledge areas, the argument is that the opponent could have figured out what card was added to the hand of the person playing the ability through deductive reasoning, etc.
Personally, I'd like it if you only had to prove you pulled cards when playing an ability that had a condtion, i.e. Mercenary, The Hunt is On, etc.
