Scum 50 Point Escalation League

By FatherTurin, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So the store I play is hosting an escalation league primarily to get more folks into the game.

Week 1 = 50 points

Week 2 = 60 points (I think, they haven't worked this week out totally)

Week 3 = 75 points

Week 4 = 100 points

Wrapping up with a 100 point tournament in June.

Other than the point restrictions, the only other requirement is to stay in faction. You can change your list completely from week to week as long as you stay in faction. The point of the league is to have a lot of fun but also to get other players to slow-grow their squadrons. But a ship or two a week and build slowly up to a 100 point squad. I have decided to play scum for the league, and wanted some advice on lists. Bear in mind, I will mostly be playing newer players so I don't want anything hyper competitive that will obliterate them and make them not want to play anymore (luckily there will be absolutely 0 fat hans around, and super dash will be less of an issue with no one to protect his donut hole).

Without further ado, here are the lists I like so far:

List 1:

Kath - 50 points

PtL, K4, Feedback Array, EU

(debating between feedback and inertial dampeners - would also give me 1 point init. bid)

List 2:

IG-88B - 49 points

Mangler, Predator, Autothrusters, Advanced Sensors, Inertial Dampeners

List 3:

2x Cartel Spacer - 23 points (46 points total)

Heavy Scyk, HLC

List 4:

Cartel Spacer - 23 points

Heavy Scyk, Mangler, Stealth Device

Laetin A'Shera - 27 points

Heavy Scyk, Mangler, Stealth Device

Thoughts? Feedback?

If you are dealing with new players, I would recommend avoiding List 2. It is not unbeatable, but I can imagine a fair number of players showing up with a pair of X-Wings or a few scrub ties having a major negative play experience against that ship. At first glance, list 3 or 4 seem the most beginner friendly.

First I would like to say, I love your idea of an escalation league to introduce new played in slow growing squads, awesome idea. As for list ideas I would have to agree on not using list 2. Aggressors are fairly nasty by themselves and can probably be too much for a new player to go against. List 3 & 4 look really player friendly, I'd recommend using those two.

Great post by the way. This is a great idea
