Trying to find information on the TIE fighters and some squadron Decals or details, for my mini's and I am coming up blank

Sadly, from what I gather most of the TIE fighters were blown up, and only 3 models exist from the movies. But because of the pyrotechnics there was never much attempt to put detail on the squadrons.

There is a Kenner TIE fighter with a red pentagon on the upper port ball cockpit. But no idea to the significance. there are some ideas these represent Vader's wingmen.

As far as I know there is no reference to Howlrunner's squadron markings of Obsidian Squadron, or of her fighter

the 181st Interceptor Squadron had the red blood stripes on the solar panels of their TIE/Int, and I have only one reference picture of it not including models

any others? HELP!

I believe the pentagon is "Howlrunner". Most basic TIEs don't have any customization because the TIE pilots didn't live long or were generally promoted quickly if they did survive a few encounters.

If I remember Gammam squadron bombers should have white stripes on solar panels.

I like to have some source material or a citations about the Howlrunner pentagon. Considering the pentagon appeared WAY before Howlrunner ever appeared I have my doubts

There is nothing linking the red pentagon to any specific pilot or squadron. The only place it appears (besides this forum where everyone uses it on "Howlrunner") is on that Kenner toy. Other forums had speculated that it was on one of Vader's wingmen in Ep 4 but there are no pictures substantiating that and nothing in the lore linking the symbol to mauler mithil or backstabber (his wingmen). So it is probably some artistic license on the part of Kenner, you may want to do the same for your squads, as they are your squads.
