300 pt game (pretty pics inside)

By Elkerlyc, in Star Wars: Armada

Imperials;

Victory II; Tarkin, Victory I, 9x Tie fighters including Howlrunner.

(plus many upgrades. V1 had expanded hangar bays and enhanced armament. Not sure on the V2 though)

Rebels:

-Nebulon B Escort Frigate, General Dodonna)

-Nebulon B support refit

-CR90 Corellian Corvette B, Dodonna's pride

-CR90 Corellian Corvette B

-6 squadrons X-Wings including Luke Skywalker.

Turn 1:

(yes; we made the mistake of deploying illegally. Rebel Scum and cheaters after all)

Turn 2

Much to the chagrin of General Dodonna did the corvettes start at speed 1.

Both Nebulons and 4 squadrons moved to engage Tarkin in his VSD before he could be supported by the other VSD.

Turn 3: first shots fired. 3 Tie Squadrons had decided to take pot shots at the corvette and got blown away by the X-wings whom could focus at their leisure on Tarkins VSD now.

Turn 4:

Tarkins VSD badly mauled, As was the Nebulon B with General Dodona.

Yes; Tarkins VSD had parked himself on debris. His crew was panicking plus another bad crit.

Turn 5: Tarkins VSD with one hull left. shield-less except for one single shield on his left.

(His last broadcast to The Victory class 1 was: "I think you overestimate their chances.")

Final turn 6: The Second VSD under Commander Warnecke one-shotted an overconfident Corvette. Nevertheless the Rebels claimed a solid victory. The loss of the Corvette+crew will be mourned but the Victory class Star destroyer plus 5 squadrons of Tie fighters outweigh that loss.

Rebels disengage.

Rumour has it that upon reading Commander Warnecke's briefing Lord Vaders muttered under heaving asthmatic breaths: "Tarkin has failed me for the last time."

[edit; annoying typo]

Yeah that deploying within the 4' boundary is actually pretty useful. Imagine parking the flagship star destroyer in the corner at speed 0 and waiting for things to enter your front firing arc.

Im quite impressed by how quickly the imperials were able to close the gap between the star destroyers there, im guessing there were some early Nav commands? After seeing the deployment my initial thought was "oh dear the imperials are done" but it looks like they very nearly drew the rebels into the second victories front arc....maybe just a turn late?

That second Vcitory was Vic I so it had to get very close in order to provide fire support. Overall Star Destoryers are meant to stay in formation, on heir own they are easy targets,

Agreed. Mistakes were made. ;) Will not happen again.

Yep; judicious use of nav commands on both sides. And yeah; had the second VSD had one more turn things would have been grim for the rebels. That second VSD had lost a single shield while both Nebulons were limping away, badly mauled.

What was the objective?

What was the objective?

IIRC Superior positions.

But the mission did not play any part in the game or outcome other than both sides trying to get rear shots.

(as you would have anyway)

What kind of mat is that? Think I saw it in another thread somewhere.

Looks great. I'll have to drive down to Maastricht for a game sometime.
