Dauntless and experimental interface

By KILODEN, in X-Wing Rules Questions

With both of these on my ship, can i still use EI if i had to use dauntless?

As I understand it, the stress from triggering Dauntless would be added after the trigger for taking an additional action with Experimental Interface.

So you'll end up with 2 stress (1 from dauntless and 1 from EI) , and you'll need an upgrade card equipped with the Action header - but basically the answer is yes

Seeing as Dauntless allows a free action, which can trigger EI, then the answer is: yes.

Thanks guys

Lets take this further,

Dauntless to perform target lock

Target lock to use expert handling

This would leave you witn 3 stress?

Forgot to mention EI is in there too

Expert Handling doesn't require that you have a target lock...

EH lets you get rid of an enemy TL on your ship.

It also lets you barrel-roll, and simply costs an action.

If you plan is to do something like this:

  1. Overlap a ship, triggering Dauntless & using it to Target Lock.
    1. Use Target Lock to trigger Experimental Interface.
      1. Use Interface to perform Expert Handling.
      2. Receive stress from Handling.
    2. Receive stress from Interface.
  2. Receive stress from Dauntless.

Then yes, that works perfectly. Of course, the triple* stress means that you're not doing it again any time soon.

* Though if the original maneuver that started all this was green, one of them comes off at the "Check Pilot Stress" step, leaving you double stressed.

ok,

that's what I thought, just wanted to be sure

so in the same manner if I had 2 saboteurs on the decimator, I could use dauntless to trigger both saboteurs and have 2 stress tokens.

No, you can't use two Saboteurs. Since they're copies of the same card, trying to use them in the same round is considered to violate the limit on only performing each action once in a round.

Refer to the FAQ, lower left of page 14 (Can a ship perform the same Upgrade card action or Damage card action more than once per round?).

The nested trigger ruling is in the FAQ.
