First repaint

By Shabigity, in X-Wing

Here is my first repaint. I have painted imperial assault minis before, but this was a little different. I expect better results in the future, but not mad about the results. See for yourself and let me know what you think. I realize I let the paint get a touch thick in some spots... Learning and enjoying it. Here is Corran Horn's CorSec themed E-wing.

Hey Shabigity, welcome to the forums and congrats on your first X-Wing repaint. I really enjoy the hobby too and this forum is a good place to get ideas and help.

The paint is definitely too thick on this attempt, as you noted. Identifying the ways you want to improve your technique is going to drive your learning process, so way to go. I think the choice of color was good. The CorSec fighters are cool and I've been wanting to do one myself. I hope you'll share your next repaint with us.

My advice, to you and to other beginners, would be to do lots of research. Read up on brushes, paints, etc. Look for YouTube tutorials and search these forums. Google everything. You'll get out of the hobby what you put into it, and from my (still newbish) perspective, I'd say it's 25% experience, and 75% knowledge.

Nice! Wanting to have Corran's ship (and my own affinity for green) is one of the reasons I joined the forum after scanning it for tips. I still have yet to paint mine, but once school's out (for summer...), I'm hoping to get to it.

What shade(s) of green did you use? I'm shooting for a British Racing Green, so I like your metallic hue. I also really like the black nose and panels!

Thanks guys! And I used citadel's Caliban green.
