This really. For most missles a Z-95 is better (proton rockets for 19 points is a hard sell on a skill 2 pilot, the other more skilled pilots are it would cost 23/25 for a one shot delivery).

Protons are rarely used as is, and the Y-Wing is a better, and much cheaper reliable platform for it to begin with.

Cannons are it's unique saving grace and one with a cannon can be fairly punishing. Just the uniques and a cannon is a lot.20 points for a mauler on PS2, 23 For PS5. 26 for 6 and 28. It just makes me feel unconfortable to give them the investment beyond the PS2 mook.

As said, the best use is to either swarm them heavily or go for a hammer and anvil style list using Kath, as I recall being mentioned before. Where they have to chose who to go for.

I'd say Howlrunner if you're giving at least 2 ships reroll is better, but Backstabber is a close second and much easier to jam into various lists.

I disagree about Howlrunner. I don't think she's worth her points. I know many many people disagree, but I don't ever use her. She just dies too fast to be worth it.

As for the Scyk, I've seen them used quite well. There is a guy who uses some with Manglers and Kath. Kath boosts forward to shoot out the rear and the Scyks slow roll with the Mangler. You go for one or the other and they both tend to rip you up. It's been pretty mean. I've seen Scyks die fast and I've seen them evade a ton of shots. If you like Tie Fighters, you should like Scyks.

If you're spending over 18 points on a Tie Fighter that is going to fly solo in hopes of flanking... I would suggest thinking about changing out your Fighter for an Interceptor. That's the roll the Interceptor is designed for. 20 points gets you an Alpha with Autothrusters.

If I have 17 points or less to work with, I'd probably consider a Black with EPT of choice. A Lone Wolf Black would make for a good cheap flanker.

Backstabber is 16 points, the same as a Black with Lone Wolf. I think the Black with Lone Wolf would last longer and hit harder. He could always use his action for defense and should be getting a dice re-roll for both his attack and defense. The difference between 4 and 6 PS is negligible most of the time in this meta.

Backstabber might draw more attention than a Black with Lone Wolf. This in itself can be a good thing if you've planned for it.

All depends if the Black stays R2 away. Also not sure about the PS. We are seeing shifts here.
