Played in my very first tourney today, and it was my very first time playing, at all. It was 3 rounds. i went 0-2 with a last round bye. There was only 5 people playing. I ran:
Rexler Brath TIE defender with heavy laser cannon and push the limit.
Echo TIE phantom with Predator and advanced cloaking device.
Dark Curse TIE fighter.

I kept forgetting to use push the limit. First round was against Sontir Fel and a decimator. I managed to take out Fel. Second round was against 2 IG 88 ships, B and C. I got shields down on one of them. Both guys where having a very tough time taking out Dark Curse.
I had fun.

Cool. Interesting List. You might find Predator a more useful card for Rexler than Push the Limit, because stress can be very constraining for the Defender given it can only clear that stress by doing a straight move next turn.

I usually try to steer new players to using the named mid-range Tie Fighter pilots a lot. They have good PS. Their abilities aren't so crazy and are easy to wrap your head around. They aren't bad to take, either! Backstabber is good. Night Beast is good. Mauler Mithel can be good, but not as easy to use. Dark Curse is a lot of fun.
