So I was playing a game today and a question came up. I was engaged with a tie fighter squadron. He was sitting on the space station. My buddy asked if that would give him back a hull each turn because he was overlapping it. I don't know so I thought I'd ask. What does everyone think.
Station question
From the rules reference:
"A ship or squadron overlaps an obstacle if part of its base is on top of the obstacle token after moving (excluding activation sliders)."
I'd imagine since they can't move until the engaged squad is destroyed and the above defines overlapping is only after moving, I would imagine that no they cannot recover hull each time just sitting there.
Thanks. That make sense. I'm still trying to get use to the wording. After rereading it I caught that this time around. Thanks again
Don't forget that obstacles, including the Station, however, DO obstruct Line of Sight... and per the RRG, if LOS between squadrons is obstructed, while still being able to attack each other (at minus 1 dice, as LOS is obstructed), they are NOT engaged.... so properly placed squadrons may still be able to regenerate hull points while under attack.

If they move ... (and without a squadron command that means "don't attack that round").
*reaches out, nudges squadron parked on station the tiniest fraction of a millimeter* "My squadron has moved. It repairs a hull now."

Squadrons can't move if engaged (as per OP).
And as already pointed out in this thread, if the squadron's parked on the station (I'm assuming here that it's surrounded by the station) then it's obstructed--and therefore, not engaged.
Edit: but actually, fair enough. I was responding to a few posts down, not the OP--and didn't specify that. Responsibility mine, sorry! : )
Edited by IndyPendantGood point - I missed that one.

Also, considering that doing a 0-move still explicitly counts as "having executed a move" for a ship,if you choose to move you squadron you probably don't even have to nudge it.
But you still have to be able to move, so it won't work if you are engaged (by being only partially on the Station) or you don't have a squadron command and also want to attack.
Actually, careful with that. Attacks are only obstructed if LOS passes through an obstacle.
But nothing stops said squadron from planting it's base half in and half out of that station, with the end sticking out facing another squadron.
Nice catch. I see potential for abuse here.
That being said, said squadron on the station would ALSO be considered engaged.
Edited by infuscoI dont really see abuse potential. It seems like a tough tradeoff. Attack OR heal a point. Attack or defense.
