So... Luke's X-wing can just ignore the heaviest shielding on the heaviest warship. He doesn't even have much of a specially upgraded fighter. To be ok with this, but frown on the Falcon doesn't make any sense to me. The Falcon is much more comparable to a whole squadron of fighters than Luke is genuinely that good against cap ships in the fluff.

a YT-1300, and even more so the Falcon, fully crewed and armed for battle, is a formidable opponent to any fighter squadron. 2 quad laser turrets that cover 360° at all elevations, proton torpedoes,heavy shields and very powerful engines. Its like a B-17 superfortress thats as manouvrable as a fighter

It just a freighter. And two quad lasers (which only cover one side each) are really nothing compared to the weapon of even 6 fighters. And by current observations it much harder to hit a fighter with a turret mounted weapon than with a fighter to hit a larger, slower target. It has 100 SBD shields and 50 Ru Hull. Which is not much more heavy fighters field. And its nowhere as manouvrable as the fighters.

However a YT-1300 is no hero at all... And to think the (altough iconic) Falcon must be Über, because a Jedi-Pilot can do much more with a any fighter doesnt make any sense to me.

I need to believe that fighter squadrons are 12 fighters for armada to work from a fluff perspective. So that is what I am sticking with.

I'm ok with han and the falcon being bad ass.

a couple things we have to remember about Armada, especially given how wonky the scale can be given relative factors (what the squadron command represents, what a squadron's health represents, why a squadron doesn't lose effectiveness until it pops out of existence...)

1.) there the number of ships in a fighter squadron is always set at the precise value of "enough" except in the case when a squadron is destroyed, then that value becomes "none"

2.) Squadrons are doing a lot of things during the "actual" battle, even if they are only represented by a single figure. squadrons have to maintain formations and fly around their squaddies/around the enemy, which makes them stiff while lone wolves such as Han Solo (and others represented by the rogue rule) are not so limited. This may explain why a lone YT-1300 is so effective.

If the effectiveness of a lone YT-1300 is disputable, just remember point #1.

3.) Until we see the point cost and ability, I'm pretty comfortable saying that Mr. Solo won't have enough of an impact in this game to merit complaining about. Capital ships are still a focus and the YT-1300 does not have bomber (going by the base ship, it's escor t and counter ) which means it will most likely be less cost effective against the major focus of the game.

The 'hull points' for something like the Falcon or even X-Wings account for their shields as well. Not to mention crew members able to move about in battle to do repairs. The YT series have formidable shields... When you take into acount pilot-copilot weapon systems (1), two quad lasers gunned by two people (2) - you have 3 anti-fighter dice...

On shields: Look!

Your base TIEs and Interceptors have 3 hull points and zero shielding. TIE Bombers are twice their size and can also (not always) sport shielding at are 5 hull points.

X-Wing are 5 hull points, but are the same size (generally) as a TIE...however she sports shielding. So she has 5 not 3 hull points. Same for the B-Wing.

A Wings have 4 HP so we can assume 1 of those is shielding in comparison to the Interceptor.

The Falcon is larger than an X-Wing by at least a good factor. So likely the YT-1300 has good shielding and of course way more hull.

The YT-2400 is a smaller vessel and has 6 hull points. Probably equal shielding.

Therefor: The YT-1300's 7 HP is probably 3 points of shield, 5 points of structure (7)... where as the YT-2400s are 4 hull and 2 shield (6)... where as the B/X-Wing is 3 hull and 2 shield (5)... where as the A-Wing is 3 hull 1 shield (4)... and the TIEs are 3 hull no shields.

Considering they won't be out for probably another year or more with the delays, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I barely want to play right now since I have so very few options as a Rebel.

Falcon was undercrewed. Also, cinematic show-casing. In ROTJ it was leading and engaging far more.

I don't think the Falcon was ever in any danger from those TIEs. More importantly, I don't think a single base represents 12 fighters. It quite clearly only has 3 on the base.

Had the same worries going on again when the first infos where dropping in.. "oh no, not again some plot armored vessel that defies even in-movie logic.." But honestly, lets wait for wave 2s arrival before the ranting starts. For now, we could only grasp like half of the card, still do not know much about the special rules or what exactly the other guys from the rouges and villains box are able to do. Aside, FFG changed and balanced a lot of cards from the core set, so there is good hope that they will not release some unbalanced stuff on us..

Hate to say this buddy but at YT 1300 does not have 2 quad laser cannons or missles only the falcon does. A "stock YT 1300 only has one single turrets heavy laser. The falcon was heavily modified.

the only reason he didn't stop and fight was because of the destroyers on his tail

(also, practical concerns aside, they probably had trouble in ANH because Han let chewie pilot while he manned the guns )
