Redirect Clarification (Adjacent)

By Ickypilot, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Redirect: The defender chooses one of its hull zones adjacent to the defending hull zone..... (Defense Tokens, Rules Reference pg. 4)

Using the attached picture, an attacker declares hull zone 1 as the targeted hull zone. The defender chooses to use a Redirect token, meaning hull zones 4 and 2 are the only possible zones to absorb damage...not 3.

Without getting into semantics, I consider adjacent meaning next to or sharing a side with. I just want to make sure I'm not way out of line with this rule, I've seen a lot games where someone's front hull zone on their VSD is attacked, they use a redirect and absorb damage from their rear hull zone (I don't think that's right). Thoughts?

PG 6 of the RRG defines an Adjacent Hull Zones as one that share a firing arc line.

So no fore and aft are not adjacent, neither is port and starboard.

Thanks!

Fore and aft are opposite not adjacent. So your correct.

How much damage can you redirect ?

For example if I attacked the front hull zone which had 1 shield point and get say 3 hits and the port and starboard hull zones have 2 shields apiece could the defender take 2 hits to port and one starboard thus saving his front shield?

As much damage as there are shields to that one hull zone.

No.

You get to choose one hull zone, so either port or starboard, but not both.

Redirect is "One" Hull Zone.

The Upgrade card Advanced Projectors, however, shakes that up somewhat... But without it... Its ONE Hull Zone.
