Mixed Obstacle questions:

By DraconPyrothayan, in X-Wing Rules Questions

When one executes a maneuver whose template overlaps multiple kinds of obstacle, how is this resolved?

Example: A TIE Fighter flies a 5 Forward. The 5-forward template overlaps both a Debris Field and an Asteroid.

Does the TIE Fighter :

A) Suffer both effects

B) Choose which obstacle's effect to suffer

C) Have the obstacle's effect chosen for them by the player with Initiative

D) Suffer the effect of whichever obstacle was hit earlier in the maneuver

If A), does the TIE Fighter suffer the effects in any particular order?
If A), does a potential suffered Stunned Pilot critical cause them extra damage from overlapping a second obstacle in the same maneuver?

If B) or D), does that technically make hitting an asteroid after a debris field less damaging, or hitting a debris field after an asteroid less stressful?

In the Olden Days, I seem to recall that running over two asteroids was merely as bad as running over one, but since we now have a mixture of abilities, the rule needs clarification, or my memory needs refreshing.

And yes, this is relating to my Mad-Scientist habit. More on this afterwards :)

I'm pretty sure this is covered in the FAQ, but I can't look it up just now.

If I remember correctly, the opponent gets to choose one of the obstacles and apply its effects.

From the FAQ, pg16 (last page)

Q: After a ship moves through or overlaps more than one

obstacle, does the ship suffer the effect of each obstacle?

A: No. His opponent chooses one of those obstacles; the ship suffers the

effects of the chosen obstacle.

... what if I run through a bedri field and land ON an asteroid and my opponets choses the debri field...

Do I get to keep my perform action step (I know I get stress, but if you manage to get rid of it some way).

Can I still attack in the combat pahse?

I suspect you would get hit twice. Once with the rules for moving through an obstacle (Debris field) then lose the ability to take an action or shoot due to being parked on the asteroid.

I think it would work kind of like Dash Rendar landing on an asteroid: I choose which one you suffer in the activation phase, and then in combat, you can't shoot if you're on an asteroid.

Just like how Dash Rendar doesn't get effected in the activation phase, but still can't shoot if he's on an asteroid. If he's the pilot.

No, you don't get hit twice. It's still down to the opponent's choice. Choose wisely, young padawan.

Plus if you planned a maneuver that took you through a debris field and left you parked on an asteroid, you probably need to go back to flight school. ;)

If your base is overlapping an asteroid after your template went through a debris cloud, you won't get to shoot during combat, no matter what obstacle your opponent chose for you to suffer.
