In a few more years ssd will be great but now it's still too low on space to replace the standard drives that have served me so well.

From what I understand you don't want to use SSDs for archive drives. I have a pair of SSDs for Windows and Steam respectively and a huge WD Velociraptor for my music and data backup partition.

Here's a thought - why doesn't Steam preload your last played game into RAM when you start Steam? That would help with load times. We could spend the SDD money on RAM and it could load the last game plus a couple of your most frequently played games (or whatever games make sense, algorithmically). We do want to keep SSD reads to a minimum don't we?

I have yet to meet someone with the new watch in person but I'll be pretty interested when I do.

Well you might want to leave Steam running in the background without an FPS taking up 4gb+ of RAM. Now I've got 16gb and only play DotA on Steam so I'd be in favor of this at least being an option even though I don't need it.

You never need empty RAM. If you open something else that needs more RAM than is currently available the OS should take care of that. Generally on Windows that might mean moving something to disk, but it ought to mean sending a message to programmes to minimise their memory footprint first, which Steam could respond to by removing a game from memory, if the user isn't playing it.

I don't see anything that could possibly go wrong with an IWatch....

I have a Samsung Gear Neo. Love it. I am not supposed to use my phone at work, but with the watch I can keep the phone in my pocket and see messages from my wife and see who is calling. I have kids in school with food allergies and if school calls I duck into a closet or something to answer.

I have set up some canned messages so I can reply back to a lot of texts without typing.

Do not play games or check email on it. I do have the pedometer active, I walk about 7000 steps a day roaming about the hospital working on stuff...

I do not use every feature, so my battery lasts 4 or 5 days between charging.

I have become so used to it and the small things I like about it, I barely wear my Tag anymore and have not worn my Fossils in about a year.

the deal breaker for me on ANY watch is that it HAS to be waterproof!! I also wish more phones were that way. many of the G series from samsung are.. which is nice that way you don't need a clunky otter box for it.

Why would it be waterproof? That would go against apple's upgrade policy. If you don't break it on your own in 2 years, the new os will make it unusable.

I'm writing this from an iPad, which I do love as a supreme couch web browser. I used to have an iPhone which I loved as well, but when it took 3 seconds to open email after the new update, I had enough of their disposable phones.

I can't stand how quickly they come out with new stuff. Within just a couple years, older products become entirely obsolete. I'd rather have a product that'll last me significantly longer than that.

I'm writing this from my MS Surface Pro 2. Yes, it costs quite a bit more (not so bad refurbed, though. I'm all for shopping smart). But I've been using it for literally all my schoolwork. You can't write code on an iPad. The SSD is great. The processor is fantastic. Heck, I can even play KotOR on it. My laptop needed a replacement, as I'd had it for the last 7 years and it was a cheapo anyway. This thing was a worthwhile investment, to be sure.

's funny that I'd expect more Apple fans around here. Apple and FFG are similar in some ways: they both make beautiful, functional, brilliantly well designed stuff, best in their respective fields, and you pay a premium for it.

Apple is more like Games Workshop than FFG. Riding off a name to charge more but their stuff's nothing special. You're paying for the half eaten fruit on the back, not quality or innovation. Maybe they were once what you think they are, but post Steve Jobs they'd rather spend their money repeatedly suing Samsung.

What's surprising about that? They don't want the app store filled up with apps duplicating built in functionality.

Apple is more like Games Workshop than FFG. Riding off a name to charge more but their stuff's nothing special. You're paying for the half eaten fruit on the back, not quality or innovation. Maybe they were once what you think they are, but post Steve Jobs they'd rather spend their money repeatedly suing Samsung.

Man, I hate that attitude Apple-haters have - this idea that they're the only smart people in the world, and that clearly people who choose Apple products aren't capable of making choices based on their own experience and intelligence, but must simply be choosing based on fashion or something.

I could just as easily generalise and make arrogant assumptions about your decision making abilities - you don't like Apple because of the trendy image they have, you want to feel smug and smarter than the "iSheep". I don't do that though, because I'm a grown up and I realise other people are capable of making smart choices for themselves, even if they disagree with me.

I guess my desires of what I want a smartwatch to be are completely different from what Apple wants me to think they are. I rank the ability to customize the watch face, beyond the default 9, as number 1 most desired feature.

Also we all remember when they tried to replace Google maps.

I think that reflects the personalities of those involved.
