New Raider preview article up

Anybody else wondering if we'll see a Carrion Spike title for the Raider?

I had not been wondering that, but thanks for putting it on my mental map. I can't make out the card on the very end of the card fan, but the words don't look like they would be 'Carrion Spike', even if that does look like it might be a title card.

That the 'Carrion Spike' was the right size is certainly nice, however...it canonically had a cloaking device.

I dunno if a huge ship with a cloaking device is necessarily a good idea...

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. But it is a corvette, it's described as sleek and triangular, it is very in-keeping with the Raider in terms of my take of it from Tarkin. The cloaking device is a sticking point, but maybe not a huge one.

Full speed forward and still gaining 2 energy sounds nice.

Why has no-one else commented on this?

I think we're assuming it's a typo. Article says it gets 2 energy if it does a 2 bank, "but if it does a 4 forward, it only gets 2 energy". Waitwhat? That's the same number, twice, it's not a "but if..."

LOL

They'll fix it, I'm sure.

BUT

if you buy 8 completos...

Can't have more than 12 TIE Fighters in Epic.

Aww.... well at least now I know. My FLGS just recently got a new shipment in, I don't know if there were any epic ships in the order, X-wing kind of died down at the store until recently with the new trailer and their supplier getting more stock from FFG after a long wait. There going to start having "Star wars" night every other friday, so hopefully epic battles are on the horizon for my area! :D

Captain Needa Card is so good!!!

With his ability, yo can literally clear all obstacles from the battlefield!!!

Literally?

so....

where's the ******* Advance!?

One thing. It's range 1 to 4 from a frwaking enormous ship. It's 100% adaptable. There are zero ways to actively deny it.(No action blocking, etc.)

All of that = unconditional = 100% duty cycle. So again if a "normal" card has a 75% duty cycle and is fairly priced at 3 points, then an unconditional should be about 3/0.75=4. You could debate the 75% duty cycle but personally I think that if you've got Recon Specialist, PtL, Fleet Officer, etc, and if you only have a 50% duty cycle (3/0.5= 6 = Moff), then you're doing it wrong.

And it can steal tokens which is an even better option because it allows use of opportunist and can cripple certain ships very effectively.

You have a point there, although due to reciprocity gaining a focus yourself is generally worth the same as depriving your opponent of one.

I would say that going from 75% to 100% isn't a simple linear +1pt. There is some additional value going from 'easy/probably' to 'always'. Also, there is considerable value in that it outsources the token. With that kind of effective range, it puts the focus token in the place where it can have the greatest effect and has the added bonus of being a token over an action, thus allowing focus stacking.

There's also value in the timing, it's happening in combat phase, where you have good information, and can decide who needs or doesn't need that focus.

So they spoiled 3 cards. No news on the advanced.

That article was... Underwhelming.

Technically, wasn't the ion cannon battery not officially spoiled before? Didn't we find that one by URL diving? Or am I misremembering?

Did no one notice the ion cannon battery in the article?

You suffer 1 crit and an ion token on a hit.

I originally had that card in my OP, then I checked the eponymous X-Wing Companion App and saw it in there, so I figured it wasn't new and edited it out of my OP. Maybe we only knew about it through URL diving? Should I put it back in the OP?

I have heard from others that the carrion spike has already been said to be a different class of ship, but I do to know where that comes from.

I, personally, think it would be great. I would feel so much better about the story group's oversight of the continuity if I could get some grad confirmation that they were paying attention to a licensee as fringe as FFG.

I think so. Even if it was known before there will very people who missed it, and it was linked to in this article.

It was a URL dive. It was the the "big prize" one if i recall correctly.
