RAIDER PREVIEW!

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

What does it MEANNNNNN!?!?!?

If you listen very carefully, you can hear the FFG webmaster playing trolololo...

Still. At. Printer.

How many are we going to buy Star Brothers?

I might need two...?

I'll only need the one for the time being.

Eventually probably three. for... you know, those 1000 point a side games.

Seems nice. A bit more energy then the CR but shorter range with the primary.

Tarken is going to be quite handy, and both Needa and Ozzel are handy for their points.

Grand Doosh Tarkin can now give me headaches in nearly ALL my various star wars games.....

Fluffy Needa.

Meh.

I would be tempted to put those ion cannon batteries all around the ship. They have nice range and low power consumption cost.

We should see it soon I think. Who is ready?

Raider comes out and I need to buy a new miniature and another oh wait... I have enough large storage cases, but I still need to get that Admiral Ozzel figure!

That sweet spot is killer.

Do you guys have a nice storage case for this bib boy?

:)

Not much spoiled.

On paper though the Raider seems a lot more powerful than the CR-90. Not sure if that small range advantage the Vette gets is going to be enough. I feel like you'll always want Roark to buff your Vette to PS 12. Almost an auto-include...

Tarkin is expensive, but his ability is range 1-4! He can affect a very large area.

Needa is ok for 2 points. Might give you an advantage if you decide to fly into the asteroid field.

Ozzel seems pretty good for the 2 points. He's one of those cards that you don't need to use all the time, but he can give you some flexibility when needed.

That sweet spot is killer.

I'm super happy they included that visual representation of its firing arcs. At first I thought the thing was super weird, and had wondered why they made it that way. Now it makes more sense.

Still a way better arc then the CR-90, for sure.

It is a badass ship.

It can cut right where it needs to... most anyway it wants to.

A bit disapointed that Tarkin isn't legal for the normal game.

Now, however, we draw closer to the arrival of that first Imperial huge ship.

Emphasis mine - intriguing choice of words....

It really just makes sense that an Imperial wedge design would have good weapons coverage at those 10 and 2 o'clock positions. Thumbs up to FFG for the Raider design. It looks and acts the part.

Is it? I think the two of them are meant to be flown very differently. The Raider seems like a long range platform, shooting concentrated bursts forward while its escort keeps the enemy at bay. The CR-90 feels more like a ramming engine, jumping straight in the middle of the enemy formation and forcing them to turn away aside as it blasts them in the back.

It has been a good week to be an X-Wing fan.

Or an obvious choice of words. I mean, unless there was an Imperial huge ship that came before, this will be the first one.

For a command ship build, Tarkin seems perfect.

Ozzie is cool, and I still need him...cause!

:)
