RAIDER PREVIEW!

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

That sweet spot is killer.

I'm super happy they included that visual representation of its firing arcs. At first I thought the thing was super weird, and had wondered why they made it that way. Now it makes more sense.

Still a way better arc then the CR-90, for sure.

Here's a more accurate depiction of the raider's arcs I did a few months ago:

That rear engine nacelle looks like a horse's a$5hole. I love it!

Not a particularly great preview BUT this hing has been at the printer so long it's happy to gt some confirmation it's not been scrapped.

I'm very curious what the starred out word is, and why you love it so much.

It has been a good week to be an X-Wing fan.

Yeah it has Bro... and it started last Thursday for me , and for a lot of other Star Brothers and Sisters!

:)

****... that thing has a huge blindspot.

BRB, need to find a mop bucket for my drool...

HNN has the scoop:

KDY Profiles Raider-Class Corvette

Now, however, we draw closer to the arrival of that first Imperial huge ship.

Emphasis mine - intriguing choice of words....

Or an obvious choice of words. I mean, unless there was an Imperial huge ship that came before, this will be the first one.

I'm guessing that it's being interpreted as an implication that there will be a second.

How about the size of those debris tokens! With the new rules I may bring all three to lay out on the table. Large base ship pilots... that obstacle field just iincreased it's challenge rating.

Oh, undoubtedly. I just wanted to add some perspective before the inevitable ejaculations of "zomg second imperial huge ship confirmed!!!!1!!". It's a bit premature, considering that we're only just now getting information about this huge ship.

SOME OF US GET IT ... and I like dat.

If it were planned to be the only one, there would be no need to call it out as such - it could have said:

"..we draw closer to the arrival of the Imperial huge ship" or "..a huge Imperial ship" or "the Imperials finally have a huge ship" etc...

I'm not saying that it is confirmation that there are more coming - I just said I found it interesting in that it was a deliberate choice of words and I think that most of the time, language and words are used for specific reasons. I'm not even saying it was an easter egg or a 'hint' - just that whoever wrote the article might have more knowledge than we do and possibly didn't catch that their knowledge is just integrated into their writing a bit and didn't obfuscate things. In other words, the word "first" isn't a tacit confirmation that there are more, but neither does it preclude it from ever happening. It could mean nothing.

Admittedly wild speculation on a single word - I just said it was interesting....

It could mean nothing.

Or it could mean anything, really. Interesting? Maybe, depending on your interests. Indicative of anything at all? Much too early to tell.

Needa also has another use. Remember that smaller ships are also considered obstacles. So...."Ramming Speed!!!!"

Pretty sure they aren't. "Obstacle" is defined in the game.

Mentioned in another thread, but those are very obviously mines that shoot at you next to the raider. They have stats like a ship.

Any bets on whether they can be dropped by large base ships with the bomb upgrade?

FAQ bait, but as written I'd agree with you.

Reddit rumor

Word of mouth from an FFG employee is Palpatine is more or less this:

Emperor Palpatine

2 Crew, Imperial Only, 8 Points

Once per game at the start of the activation phase select a ship. You may set the dice for that ship for the remainder of the turn.

Disclaimer:

At this point I can't get anyone at FFG to confirm it. My friend was new to the game when he met the employee and chatted with him, his game knowledge wasn't great so he couldn't give me exact wording. But this is what he was told.

Until we have confirmation I'm chalking it up to either a friendly FFG employee, or an FFG employee who was messing with my friend. I don't think it's the latter, but I have no confirmation at this point.

Hey look it's a Greedo Ion Cannon.

If Palp doesn't isn't at the very least Hugh or Large ship only , I will be very disappointed. I've been waiting to place him on a Lambda since the day they were released. I could see him giving a Howlrunner-like effect due to the long-speculated "Battlemeditation" effect he was using in Ep. 6.

I'm actually concerned about its balancing. It seems a bit OP compared to the CR-90. That said, the CR-90 has, from what I've seen, always been considered lackluster.

It wasn't really designed to be a combat ship-of-the-line. The Raider seems more purpose built for combat.

Ah man I was really hoping for a discard mechanic with this guy. I mean I just wanted to say

"YOU HAVE FAILED ME FOR THE LAST TIME!" and discard him to get a benefit like a free attack or something.
