Exact measurements on range ruler

By Kaiju, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

Hi everyone,

My friend and me noticed that the range rulers (for weapon ranges and fighters) in our core sets differ from each other by a few millimeters.

It wasnt really noticable till we played a few games, but its hard to notice and shaving off a few millimeters can easily be done. Now, especially for tournament purposes, it would be great if we had the exact numbers, especially when people bring custom third-party range rulers.

Anyone know the measurements ? It seems that mine is just one 12 inch (30,3 centimeters actually), with Short being 12,3 cm, medium 18,7cm. These are weird numbers, and my friends is 29,9 cm total, with short range being 12cm straight.

On the fighter side, I have exact 3 inches on the firing range/range 1, 12,5cm for range 2, 18,4 cm range 3, 24,3 cm range 4. It looks to me as if its intended to be 3 inch, then 6 cm each range, but isnt printed as precisely.

Anyone could bother adding their numbers?

Its an issue with die cut printed media. The shape will be the same but the image printed on it can shift. It's why all graphic design has a bleed (image actually spreads beyond the confines of the final template) so you don't get misprints.

The ruler is 1' long.

Is all that is stated officially that I can find.

The ruler isn't quite 12". Mine is 11 15/16". Others have noticed this before. It looks like the distances are all 60 mm except for 2 (which is shorter) and 1 (which is longer). The ranges don't seem to have any pattern.

Here's my measurements:

Distances:

1 - not quite 3" (maybe 3 31/32")

2- 4 7/8"

3- 7 1/4"

4- 9 5/8"

5- 11 15/16"

Ranges:

Close - 4 13/16"

Medium - 7 5/16"

Long - 11 15/16"

In the french system:

Distance:

1 - 71.5 mm

2- 125 mm

3- 185 mm

4 - 245 mm

5 - 305 mm

Ranges:

Close - 123 mm

Medium - 187 mm

Long - 305 mm

More the "non-USA" system ;)

95% of the world use the metric system.

Here in America we're just waiting for you all to realize your mistake and switch back. :P

Thailand and Liberia know what's Up!

Here in America we're just waiting for you all to realize your mistake and switch back. :P

Have fun with that.

I mean, I just find it ironic... You go to all of that trouble, throwing all of that tea, demanding all of that freedom, espousing all of that modernisation and still cling tireless to the British Imperial system...

So hypocritical.
