Official; No Wave 1 Armada @ early May

By Enquiringnewt, in Star Wars: Armada

I am viewing this as all games played are at the early stages of the rebellion and/or in the outer rim. The Rebels did not have much in terms of resources, and the Empire was not going to send top notch ships to the rim.

Plus, it gives me more time to polish up the new dices from the dice packs!

(cough) weight (cough)

;)

Stupid stupid stupid...... Kind of pissed right now at the whole shipping industry, and that includes the dock Owners and Union leadership. What happened to compromise, when did it become a dirty word and why are people so self-centered that they don't want to be held responsible for their actions when they Screw Up?

Anakin Skywalker: I don’t think the system works.

Padmé: How would you have it work?

Anakin Skywalker: We need a system where the politicians sit down

and discuss the problem… agree what’s in the best interest of all people… and then do it.

Padmé: That’s exactly what we do. The trouble is that people don’t always agree.

Anakin Skywalker: Well, then they should be made to.

Padmé: By whom? Who’s going to make them?

Anakin Skywalker: I don’t know. Someone.

Padmé: You?

Anakin Skywalker: Of course not me.

Padmé: But someone.

Anakin Skywalker: Someone wise.

Padmé: Sounds an awful lot like a dictatorship to me.

Anakin Skywalker: Well, if it works.!

you know, it's sad

taken out of the context of Clone Wars but kept in the context of Star Wars and the rise of the empire, this is actually a very nice exchange of dialog and a funny bit of foreshadowing

too bad I couldn't give a flying **** about either character by the time the dialog actually hit <_<

We have our coping mechanisms.

Mine is to fill my cubical with Armada doodles.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that if anyone is so upset over these (relatively minor) delays that they want to quit the game over it, then by all means, quit the game! I'll even help you pack your bags and call a cab, no hard feelings at all. I wish you all the best in your gaming endeavors.

As for everyone who is still excited and optimistic and patiently (but eagerly) awaiting Wave 1's actual release- stick around. We're going to have an awesome year. :)

meh

they'll all come from crawling back for the ISD, anyway

they always do...

sadness surrounds us...

So if you state a time in which you believe wave 1 will arrive, it is simply impossible for wave 1 to arrive at that time.
I had originally failed to make the HHGTTG connection.

But it seems (probably Adams' intent) to also essentially be Biblical in that no one would know when Judgement Day might come - which is why as long as someone is predicting the end of the world for every day possible, Judgement Day can never arrive.

So, let's all start making predictions for the end of the world on every day, and stop making predictions for when Wave 1 will be here.

It is our only hope...

I'm sorry, but blaming FFG for this situation is just nonsense. When X-Wing launched, they had the Wave 1 ships launch with it. Talking to the FFG people. this is exactly what they wanted to do with Armada, but due to the shipping situation, and knowing that there was already a delay, they decided to go ahead and release the Core set so at least we had SOMETHING...which is better than NOTHING. If you don't want to play the game because it is "bland" right now, then that is all on you. There are plenty of other games to play between now and when Wave 1 finally ships. FFG is in the same boat we are (no pun intended...or is it?). The product is sitting in a container on a dock waiting its turn in the queue.

Sad times? Kind of but we will survive. It just sucks we live in a country when a large portion of the country has to pay for the stubbornness of a few. (FFG is not the only company that has been boned by this ordeal, some even worse than FFG.)

But in the end what really matters is that someone got a Hitch Hicker's reference in here, but he forgot the cup of tea. You need it on hand if it is going to work not something you should be doing in the near future. Keep this up and I will hit you with my towel.

Is anyone blaming FFG? Not that I've seen. We're justifiably upset about the delay but I don't see anyone blaming FFG for it.

That presumes that they don't happen on the same day. :P

And yeah, the HHGTTG reference can come out of left field for some people who don't have my chronically (and fatally) pop-culture saturated mind.

And to be fair, I forgot all about bistromathics until somebody else reminded me. But then I realized it is the answer.

Incidentally, if you type 42 into the user interface of a Bambleweeny 57 Sub-Meson Brain serving as the computer for an infinite improbability drive you can cause a Big Bang. Which, coincidentally, is bad for whatever Been There Done That Bang you currently inhabit.

@Deathseed. When I was 42 and anyone asked me how old I was I told them I was the answer to life, the universe and everything. For one year I realized I was not only the most important person but also the center of the Universe itself. And to think some would go mad or just out right die. Pardon me for a second, I have some white mice stareing at me.

Just so happens I'm 42 right now. You've just put my significance in universal perspective. If you'll pardon me, I think I'll go invent a planet and name it after my cat.

I'm sadly behind in games played to the rest of my group (Stupid real life), but I'm going to see if I can get some proxies going. I'm impatient as hell to try the Salvation and Yavaris

Hm, I am eager to destroy them.

Well this is certainly a bummer. It does show that the dependence on manufacturing overseas can cause havoc for businesses. I know the game would probably cost more if they made it here in the US, but at least the delays would be minor and maybe even non-existence. Plus it would be supporting our economy. Oh well, nothing we can do but wait at this point. I am very excited for this game and want Wave 1 to show up ASAP. Too bad that this is happening.

Of course, the same effect could have happened in a labor dispute in the domestic manufacturing sector, rather than in the ports. So, to blame it on overseas manufacturing rather than poor labor relations misses the point, I think.

Wait, the bloody cat?

THE CAT?

EDIT: Now I'm thinking about the cat from Boondocks Saints. Hoo boy.

I'm going to enter the Unitef States of Denial and pretend this is a clever ruse to complete a surprise release on May 4th.

Yeah, that's nice. There we go.

I should be able to get through the next week.

I seriously love the Armada community. We're transitioning into a support group! :)

More like AA (Amada Anonymous)..... just need a little taste of Wave 1.

My name is Mikael and I am an Armadian.

I've been Armada clean for about a week now, but I'm really jonesing for another hit. Talking to y'all is about all I can do to just get by day to day, but I am getting by - Day. To. Day.

I guess I just gotta fake it 'till I make it.

But, if you could just spare me a little Wave 1, I swear I'll get back on my feet again.

She's an old, sick kitty. She deserves to have a planet named after her. She's earned it.

Son of a... Wave one is desperately needed! I think FFG is doing this to force me to get a second starter. I... must... RESIST! Ah man, just placed my order with Amazon.

Could happen, yes, but that would be more directly associated with FFG and their manufacturer and not all manufacturing here is associated with Unions. That's for a discussion in a different thread.

This game has a lot of potential and it is unfortunate that we're experiencing delays like this. I'm glad we have the Core Set because it allows some practice to get used to the game.
