Official; No Wave 1 Armada @ early May

By Enquiringnewt, in Star Wars: Armada

Hello again,

I bring news that will be a bummer to all; I received the releases for May 6th and Wave 1 of Armada was not on it. I tried to confirm something, but there is no additional info at this time. As it stands, Wave 1 will drop mid-May at the earliest. As always I will keep you updated when I lock down solid info.

Good hunting o7,

Newt

Yikes. Sadtown. Here's hoping we don't fly off of the table into June!

As always though, thanks for the heads up.

At this rate I'm almost hoping Wave 1 comes out after Wave 2.

Noooooooooooooooo!!!

FFG have failed me for the last time...

*wiggles fingers a bit*

What do you mean I am not force sensitive!!!!

On a positive note, that gives me another pay or two to save up to buy lots of ships with. :)

Father, please....

Stupid stupid stupid...... Kind of pissed right now at the whole shipping industry, and that includes the dock Owners and Union leadership. What happened to compromise, when did it become a dirty word and why are people so self-centered that they don't want to be held responsible for their actions when they Screw Up?

Thank you Newt.

Sad day.

I think at this point, FFG can no longer use the dock workers as an excuse. How long has it been going on? There MUST be other methods of transit available, even if it were slightly less cost efficient. At the very least they could release ALL the cards for all of wave 1. At least then we could proxy play a bit...

Edit: I looked it up, all the articles I can find say that the strike ended in February. Can anyone find me an article that says otherwise?

Yeah, I understand your sentiment. But just because the strike ended in February the strike was estimated to set them back several months. So this delay is likely still due to the dock worker strike.

I've mentioned it a few times in the past, and we would never ever ever get this, but these delays have me wishing that we could hear the Armada "inside story." It would be incredibly interesting to hear what Fantasy Flight's expectations were during the production process starting from that GenCon demo up to the Wave 1 wait versus what was actually occurring and the challenges that forced their timeline to change. Especially considering the original intent for a simultaneous release, something beyond the dockworker situation had to have not gone their way at some point in the process. It would probably be a pretty interesting story... but unfortunately one we will never hear. ^_^

I do believe that they are probably as frustrated as we are. If I had worked on the Gladiator or the Assault Frigate or any of the additional commanders or new upgrade cards, I would want it on tables and in tournaments - not still rotting in containers somewhere.

Ugh...that is all

This is killing Armada in the cradle....

I agree. Most of our locals were put off by the high price. The few that did buy a core set are losing interest because they have paid $100 for a "demo" with no option to purchase the full game. Don't underestimate how having a huge delay like this can hurt the game in the long run.

Having this delay right from the start is going to hurt the game. Hopefully this doesn't push wave 2 back.

Well I know FFG is not happy and wants this done as soon as us but I wish they would come out with some info as to what is happening. I know we are just costumers but we should at least hear something.

Well, look at it this way guys... if Wave 2 is still on target for July, then that's only a two-month wait between wave 1 and 2 releases. Thats almost attack-wing level of content in that short amount of time!

If wave 2 is on time...

You're joking right? Either that or you know little about the actual situation... Wanting a living wage is self centered? Give me a break.

It is very typical of our modern society to get stuck in our own world we forget the only way we will survive is to work together.

I do believe in a living wage, a lot, but this wasn't the sticking point and it had to do more with upper management and the upper payed dock workers, just a small portion of the dock workers who make way more than the rest of the dock crew (think of them as the management types). If there were other issues unsettled then I didn't hear them but in the end the sticking point that is known was stupid on both sides. They didn't even discuss a middle ground.

Personally I think the Companies that suffered lost business due to the hold up should file a law suit against the Docks. Maybe a forced change in executives and new Union elections are needed to switch up leadership if they can't negotiate like adults.

I was at Star Wars Celebration over the weekend and I asked the FFG reps when Wave 1 would be off the boat and they said "hopefully mid to late May".
