Army Builder Armada Data Files Released

By AntaresCD, in Star Wars: Armada

The initial release of the Armada data files is out. All of Core and what is spoiled of Wave 1 (and a few cards from Wave 2) are in.

If you have trouble with the Download not starting the import (this problem should be cleared soon), you can use the Go To File button instead and start the import from the file manually.

are these on the update server? Do I have to pull the files manually?

They are on the update server. Should be the first data files listed as they are the most recently updated. There had been a problem last night (which is corrected now) which broke the automated download/import and forced you to do it manually.

So yes, they are there, and no, you don't have to do it manually; the normal download will work (and kick off the import process automatically).

Got 'em Thank you for doing the work.

What exactly is this Army Builder you speak of, is it like Strange Eons -- a custom template generator for cards? Does it require any software besides the files itself?

It is a program used to generate army lists for any of a variety of games - 40k, WM/H, Infinity, X-wing, etc. etc. etc.

It relies on data files for each game system you want to run...thus the posts above. I like it a lot, and I have to say the Armada files seem very well done!

An excellent program for Mac and Windows that gives us a framework to build armies for almost any miniatures game system. Wolf Lair themselves do not License or support any single game but their software is a very easy to use starter set to build specific game files. They also allow any brick and mortar FLGS to ask for and receive a full copy of ALL of their software products FREE OF CHARGE. This means you can use the store copy of the software to confirm that a list is legal before a game or tournament.

You're welcome. I'm glad that people find them useful.

Thanks, for the compliment! It is nice to get feedback after all of that work.

Just out of curiosity, how does it compare to BattleScribe?

I prefer it. A free download of the Army Builder program is available at the above links. All abilities of the program are there except save and print. Also you can only put, I think, three items into a build.

I think it is waaaaaaay better that Battlescribe.

I tried BS for 40k and it was rife with errors and issues. We do not allow it for our tournament lists (or their lists must be checked by a TO).

btw, when you buy it you get 2 licenses for 2 computers. So you and a friend can split the cost if you like. When I bought mine I was also able to purchase 2 additional licenses for $10ea.

Print out options are also a great plus!

Thanks for making this! I had began to make a SW:Armada AB file, but life interfered!

Again thank you!
Any time frame on the addition of all of Wave 1?

Just posted the Wave 1 update. I didn't have my Wave 1 in hand until late on the 18th. Thank you for your patience.

Looks like it would have been 48-72 hours.

Thanks Antares

Awesome, thank you!

And they won't load because I've an older version of AB and I don't want to spend the cash to update. Guess it's battle scribe for me...

Geez, how old is your AB? Older than 3?

Nope, at least I don't think so. All the newer Fantasy Battle release work with it, it's just the Armada ones won't. Very annoying...

In the Army Builder updater, you should be able to just update Army Builder.

A lot of the newer AB army file do require AB 3.2 or later (current is 3.5b).

You should also be able to redownload AB from their site and simply enter in your License. You get 2 installs with the basic license.

Which I have already with the older program... it keeps telling me I need to renew the license.

I originally got AB back in 2000

Yep, my original license expired 2011; to get it permanently renewed would cost $25.

Oh. The nice thing is they no longer require annual license renewals!

Thanks for doing this, as I was going through and building a fleet I noticed for Engine Techs the description in army builder is "After you execute a maneuver, you may discard this card to execute a speed-1 maneuver". However the card reads " After you execute a maneuver, you may exhaust this card to execute a speed-1 maneuver"

Thanks again and keep up the great work! :)
