All this talk of wave 7, did we forget the Raider?

By KILODEN, in X-Wing

The Raider seems to be hanging out in limbo somewhere.

Did they not reveal it last year some time?

At one point I could have sworn it said on boat, then a few days or week later it was back at the printer.

I guess we get what we ask for, we beg for news, we get news, then we agonize over when the stuff is coming out. I know not everyone has the same hunger for the new toys that some of us do. but we do.

So I guess we are victims of our own impatient tendencies.

Nah, that's still quite exciting in its own way, and the Advanced fix pack-in will have some great implications for Regionals/Nationals. In fact, our next X-Wing article on this site should be more Raider pack info, if they hold true to form. Looking forward to the three unspoiled Advanced pilots!

It was the end of last year.

However with FFG's new "6 months from announcement or Bust", and the fact it's April and we haven't heard anything yet, I also am wondering what's happening.

Maybe Disney wouldn't allow a pilot? Maybe it's some extra step FFG have to take to get it fully licensed (rather than the already existing ships)

Just hope it doesn't go the way of the Tiles.

In my mind, Wave 7 is in the Raider's shadow. I'm much more pumped to start playing cap v cap Epic matches than anything, and view Wave 7 as simply tweaking Epic play. I imagine the complicated model build is what's keeping the Raider at the printer so long.

The better question is, has FFG forgotten about the Raider?

The curmudgeon part me of me does smirk a bit whenever I hear about the inevitable printer delay FFG experiences.

Could've gone with the reliable, tried & tested method of casting your models - but nope, 3D printing is the future.

i guess in the future things like 'being able to fulfill a rudimentary product order' are just obsolete.

:P

EDIT: This is meant as good humored snark. Yes, I'm aware of the cost benefits of 3D printing, and yes, casting is hardly perfect. But Goddamn, I like my machines to be big, steel, noisy, smelly and dependable!

Where do you get that they are 3d printed? 3d printing is ill suited to mass production and the ships look traditionally manufactured to me.

I'm much more excited for the Raider. The new Advanced stuff is icing on the cake.

Meh 0 desire to buy a epic ship to make my advanced worth hitting the table.

Is that thing still at the printer AUUUGH

I was actually going to post something similar the other day. I don't play Epic, but there's still some unknown stuff. At the very least, I want to know about the other two Advanced pilots!

At the moment, I'm kind dieing to see the crew. I really want to load Palpatine and Tarking on a shuttle/Decimator.

I, however, have lots and lots of desire to see the Imperials finally get an Epic ship onto the table. And as a bonus, I get some great upgrades for the Advanced! :)

(I'm super excited about the Raider.)

Yeah, I think 'at the printers' doesn't refer to actual 3d printing. They're using the term loosely. 3d printing is the future, but for small-run things. At least until costs come down.

As to the OP, I'm still anticipating the Raider more than Wave 7. I want to get some epic games in.

Heh, I just checked. The news article hit December 19 and my MM order was on the 19. I must have debated a whole 45 seconds.

Scum was announced in August and I think it came out in late February, so..June?

I wont have it in time for the regionals event I'm going to but at least it will be out for nationals and worlds

I feel as though we're getting less hype for the Raider because Huge ships aren't a new thing. Last time with both the Transport and the Corvette, not only did we get articles about both of them and the X-wing pilots, but also articles on how Huge ships work. This time I imagine we'll get one article about the great cards for the Raider itself, and then one article about all the cool TIE Advanced cards.

The what?

;)

I'm certainly still awaiting it, but I'm not holding my breath. I've got some money set aside for it and everything, but until it's available all we can talk about is what FFG tells us about it. I imagine they're saving a detailed breakdown for much closer to its release date, whensoever that proves to be.

seriously. 6 months or bust.

I am VERY Happy that we are getting the Raider!

:Dvaderrock.gif:lol:

Seems easy to forget since we have not heard news of it for so long.

Still I want Juno+the other advance pilots, Ole' Pappa Palpatine, Serious Business Tarkin, and "likes getting choked" Ozzel. Should be good times.

I'm no manufacturing expert, but at the Star Wars Celebration VII panel, FFG's reps went through the whole process of making one of their games. When they talked about printing models like X-Wing and Armada, they talked about plastic injection molds or something like that. So it's not a 3D printer. I think the term "printer" comes from the fact that FFG's foundation was board and card games. Miniatures came later on, but they use the term "printer" as an all-inclusive term for being in production at a factory somewhere.

Maybe we missed the news, because the Raider is now called Twix?

The better question is, has FFG forgotten about the Raider?

Not likely, this follows the typical pattern of spoilers. Wave 7 has been teased and next set of spoilers will be on the Raider along with a possible release date. After the Raider is released the rest of Wave 7 will start to get spoiled in piece mail pack after pack until it is close to release. After all the raider is only 1 pack with 2 ships. They can split the spoilers up to Raider cards and Tie Advance cards then release. Wave 7 has 4 expansion packs.

So between now and Wave 7 you can expect 5-6 spoilers of upcoming products.
