Star Destroyer Firing arcs.

By Salcor, in Star Wars: Armada

After a recent game I was wondering about the star destroyer firing arcs. The 4 arcs work, however in past documents and games stated that the triangular shape allowed for more weapons to be brought to bear on a target. So instead of a front, left, right and aft firing arcs; draw a line down the point to the triangle. So the VSD would have a left, right, and aft arc. Distribute 1 shield point to each arc (making them all 4) and make the weapons load 3 red, 2 blue on each arc. Enhanced armaments would still apply. And a ship directly ahead could be hit with both sides broadsides, as described.

My 2 cents of course, still a great game.

I thought that's what the front arc represented?

the VSD is bristling with guns along the side of the triangle, all of which can focus to the front. But, the further you get to the tip, the less they can fire effectively on the sides. EA would affect the aft most guns (the longest range, red dice).

The front arc is a combination of all weapons on the ship. The sides are the weapons that can fire at an angle.

I thought that's what the front arc represented?

Yeah especially with that wide arc. It's not like the Neb B or other ships that seem to have the same size arc's all around.

The Star Destroyers can bring their front arc to bare on a lot more of the board then a Neb B can.

Stick the Victory on it's base and sight along each of the firing arc lines. They match up pretty closely with the hull angles that would cut off the line of fire from the main turrets. That extra-wide bow firing arc rolls about the same attack as both side arcs combined, as the weapons along each flank concentrate their fire. Similarly, the sighting points are lined up to keep incoming shots restricted to the parts of the ship you can actually see at that angle.

They did a pretty good job with it, I'd say.

You may put the Empire down for being Ruthless nasty types. But thanks to Sienar and friends, they built good **** ships.

Amen...I will have to look at how the mini lines up with the arcs.
