Is the 'pilot skill' race finally over now?

Wes Jenson with VI is always worth it, the best part about taking away tokens is the fact that they wont get to use them to attack back with

Only if he has a target worth shooting at already in his arcs.

If you give Wes Janson VI, you're going to give him Engine Upgrade and probably R3-A2 as well... it comes to 33-35 points but it is always worth it.

The Phantom nerf has no effect on people who want to shoot at a Phantom, you still want a higher PS so you can shoot you can shoot them before they re-cloak.

36*

yay Stress Wing

slightly OT, but I found Luke to be a better vessel for R3-A2, V.I, and EU. Despite his ability, Wes is simply too frail. If there is any other ship taking potshots at him, he will fall quickly (or, if you have my luck, your opponent will roll a full set of hits even unmodified <_< ). He also strikes more of a balance between crippling elite ships with stress and batting aside smally crappy ships with his ability. Wes is a full on specialist who will dunk a single enemy, so he's not too fun to have against Tie Fighters :(

V.I is exceedingly important because it blocks ACD, and it also allows the Stress Wing to angle its arc with the bank template to double stress the likes of PTL soontir/dash, who are normally incredibly difficult pilots to catch with the incredibly stiff X-wing.

That is clear. But the bigger threat are not the 2 additional green dice, it is the arc dodging nightmare. So now Veteran Instincts vs 2 green dice is not that payable anymore

No.

Shooting first and eliminating incoming attacks is always worthwhile. Phantoms recloaking aren't going anywhere so don't get you hopes up. I do hope to see more variety and utility in the PS 4-7 range so that the "war" isn't just ultra high vs. ultra low...

PS will never not matter. Each wave's meta saw something bidding for PS or playing with it, though in the past that was done to shoot first--to remove enemy ships before they have a chance to shoot. A lot of little bidding used to be going on down at generic PS levels, bidding to fire before other generics at PS 1-2. Since positioning got really powerful, efficient PS 9+ started to matter more and more.

e: I still do it on ties and z-95s a lot, whether or not it is always wise. 1 point per ship for +2 PS seems worth it. Recently, I played a match where bidding my scum z-95s let me to zap a R3-A2 BTL-A4 y-wing first round of shooting in range 2. It feels strong, even if any unique pilot won't be phased.
