The Golan Space Defense Platform was a giant, floating hunk of a space station that had a whole lot of guns. They didn't really move around, because they wanted to stay in one place to protect stuff. I think in Armada, these could be a really cool feature, and be similar to the Deep Space Nine release for ST:AW. They were slightly smaller than an ISD, with later variants surpassing that size. At this scale, these could be a really cool feature, with the possibility of new objectives like boarding actions, capure the flag, etc. They were used by both sides at times, so they would just shoot at anyone who comes within x range. Thoughts on this?
Golan Space Defense Platform
that's one giant cardboard token
arguably more interesting than the space station, though ![]()
Thanks for posting, I always wondered what the Golan Space Platforms looked like. I really hope that FFG or 3rd party comes up with models of this and space platforms, with fighters and small transports docked on them. It could make for some interesting missions and scenarios!

Well, there was a kickstarter lately with stuff like that if I remember correctly, and Spartan Games has asteroids with installations built on them and space stations for their Firestorm Armada game along with packs of civillian ships, so there's always that. ![]()
Although I am not sure how would they convey with Armada's broken sliding scale...!
... Armada'sbrokensliding scale ...
The exspectation of things behaving linear is what is broken.
If ffg releases a Golan,I highly doubt it'd be a model
A token would do the job of representing it and allowing it to be a static presence in games while taking none of the attention (or table space) away from capital ships

I think you're right that we're unlikely to see a model - static models like space stations, docks, bases, etc. are really better suited to scenario-based play, and Armada, like X-Wing, seems to be more tailored to tournament-style play, where a model that doesn't move doesn't make a lot of sense.
That being said, I hope we get a model for a Golan or one or more of the space platforms we've seen in the video games. Forgeworld produced several space stations for GW's Battlefleet Gothic, including an epic Ramilles Star Fort, and they were AWESOME.
Yes!!! I was waiting for someone to make this post. I would think that they would have to represent these as a model for armada, unlike the core space station, these have guns and would benefit from a template for firing arcs and line of sight, and not just a token set piece. It would be great if these were included in an expansion that gave us a new set of objectives for tournament/ fleet building.
Edited by ZombicideI'd love to see these released as tokens.
