While we cannot currently use the dial for reference, do you think there is a chance Slam could be used to pull Modified Wins in timed matches?

Load up a K-wing to a decent amount of points use it when you need to but keep it out of danger. Use slam occasionally to bomb run but mostly to avoid arcs for the whole game. Even against mobile pilots like Fel you could easily outrun the ship doing 8 forward (two 3 forwards +base size).

Depending on how well the ability works (and the dial) there is potential for abuse more-so than with falcon running. (Since you can do a turn maneuver or bank).

If I read it correctly, the maneuver just needs to be the same speed. It doesn't mention anything about red maneuvers. So, you could do the straight maneuver that corresponds with the k-turn to turn back around. I think that would work?

That would be pretty potent to play keep away until time... A bit of a dirty strategy, but ya, I think it's a possibility. Although the fact that you wouldn't get to return fire if you get caught still makes it a risk.

I would be thrilled if you spent lots of points on a ship that will stay out of combat. 100 points against, say, 62 points sounds like a fight I would win very easily.

I suspect that if this were going to be a problem, we would have seen it with Phantoms. Decloak 2-straight followed by 4-straight is just as bad, but no one used it that way--probably because just running away in a straight line isn't terribly effective. As Crabbok says, eventually you come up against the board edge.

a fat turret is still "Faster" (Going to displace far more distance with the large base + boost), fatter (hence name), and do a crapton more damage than a loaded Kwing will (2 dice primary, no SLAM + shooting)

any concerns about SLAM displacement/arc-dodging can be abated by pointing over to han and saying "this **** has been in the game since forever and worse"

Most people seem to be assuming that the k-wing either will not have a k-turn, or if it does it will be a 4 or 5 k-turn and not have the corresponding straight. Check out the "no k-turn on the k-wing" thread

It says SLAM cannot be used as a free action. Does that mean it doesn't work with Adv Sensors. Also I think it was made to prevent you from removing stress by performing a green maneuver with SLAM. So if you are stressed no SLAM for you, unless you are Tycho which doesn't have SLAM. ADV engine upgrade anyone for 5 points?
