Is the campaign a good fit for my group of friends and me?

By Broc27, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hello there,

I've been playing FFG's Star Wars roleplaying with a group of friends for a while. We usually reserve a day, once a month, to play, but one of us always has to go after a few hours, which stops the game and frees time to do something else for the people remaining, like having a beer or playing some videogames.

I've been thinking about introducing Imperial Assault to those friends for the "after-games". I was wondering if the campaign is doable in our fashion: games once a month and with not always exactly the same people.

What do you think about it?

I don't think it would be an issue.

There's no requirement that the same player play a given hero each game. Clearly that's going to be simplest. But other than someone buying upgrades someone else may not want. I don't see any reason this wouldn't work.

The only person that really needs to stay the same every game is the Imperial Player, because they're kinda like GM's in a way, they're aware of the hidden options in each mission. Although even then as long as the Imperial Player isn't reading ahead you could swap that side out as well.

It's not like these are RPG characters. IA feels very much like a RPG-lite in that way.

Absolutely. One of my campaigns was two players but they took four characters to allow room for more players as people are or are not available. We can only play every few weeks as bunch of them work far away.
