Is Wave 7 the new Disney SYNERGY?

By patox, in X-Wing

Are you baffled like me about the Wave 7 choices of the TIE Interdictor/Punisher/Advanced Bomber and the oversized, overgunned K-Wing? Ships that can't even fit on a small base?

Could it be that Disney is flexing it's mega-canon muscle? That they're now taking a magnifying lens across all their partnerships and ensuring alignment for their i.p.?

The YT-2400 and CSS-1 Corellian Star Shuttle are in Star Wars Commander and X-Wing. Of course, the more obvious ships are also in both games.

Will the Punisher and K-Wing be in the new Battlefront?

Are we going to start seeing more of this "synergy" in future waves?

Huh.

K-wing and Battlefront.

I can see it. Now I want battlefront.

No. Sheesh....looking for a reason to hate Disney much?

The Tie Punisher is easy to figure out. They wanted Wave 7 to fix Bombers. They needed a new Imperial Bomber. The Tie Punisher is a Bomber. The Assault Boat (or whatever it is people are gunning for) isn't a Bomber. The K-wing is a Bomber. What other Rebel ship would be a better Bomber?

What if the TIE Punisher will be in TFA?

This is some bizarre speculation.

They wanted to make ordnance more useful, so we got a pair of ordnance heavy ships for the first two factions.

Scum got a fighter that fills a similar role as the X-Wing.

Scum also got Bossk, one of the "big" bounty hunters of the franchise to follow-up to Fett and IG-88, likely with Dengar and 4-L0M n' Zuckuss to follow in the next couple waves.

I literally don't see how Disney's involvement would be needed to influence any of that.

There's no Disney hate here.

It's nice to see that the right hand knows what the left hand is doing for once.

And someone mentioned that the TIE Punisher was in Battlefront II.

I don't think Disney had anything to do with this. They seem more geared towards doing away with the EU than propping up the worst parts of it.

No, someone speculated that the Tie Punisher might show up in the upcoming Battlefront game. Battlefront II only had the Bomber, Interceptor, and standard Fighter, although the mobile games added the Advanced and Defender.

I doubt Disney had anything to do with this. Other than rubber stamping thier approval. X-Wing is using the old EU, not the new EU. Disney doesn't really care what they use because of that. Also the TIE Punisher was not in Battlefront II. It's from Galactic Battlegrounds, only game it was ever in. Never mentioned before or since until FFG dug it up. Even then in Battlegrounds it was just a TIE Bomber, no fancy name since it was only a game mechanic to visibly show you had upgraded that unit.

Same thing goes for Commander, it's based in the old EU. So they have free reign to use whatever they want from that source to fill out the game. The new Battlefront will be different. It's following Disney's current "original trilogy only policy". What with it having a direct tie into the movie. It'll be under heavy review every step of the way by Disney.

Guys, Wave 7 was already mostly planned before Disney took LFL.

As for K-wings in SW Games, it is actually cut content from Battlefront 1

They made assets for it in the first two.

Not true. Battlegrounds is where the name TIE interdictor comes from.

Maybe FFG realized there are other sources for ships than the X-Wing video games, despite what some people seem to think.

Other sources yes.

But since this is X-wing miniatures and not Star Wars miniatures, the best resource they go for might just be the X-wing games, with other iconic series being close seconds (for the HWK and SOTE examples I gave above). See my above comment about golden age of star wars something above, really it's that.

I really doubt Disney has anything to do with it. Punisher and K-wing are bombers that they haven't made yet, and they want to fix ordnance. Seems simple.

They have to go to Disney for errata fixes, surely at some point, even if these were practically at the printer, if Disney thought they were stupid, or wrong, or bad, or whatever - they could have put a stop to it. Tacit approval doesn't mean that these ships will be in the new world in some other way, just they aren't so far beyond the new scope of things that Disney had to say "no way"

Not sure what to think of that....'cause that K-Wing...sheesh ( )
