Conner Net and Ion Bomb?

By FatherTurin, in X-Wing

So from folks deciphering the cards and some reading on wookiepedia, I think we are getting an ion "mine" from Conner Net and a standard "drop it, it explodes after activation" ion bomb. I'm gonna guess both varieties will do 1 damage, 2 ion tokens to their target(s), but this opens up some interesting ideas:

If SLAM let's you drop a bomb before moving, move, ion bomb, slam.

Improved SLAM: move, slam, Conner net

Emon slingshot a Conner Net

Genius, bomb loadout Y-Wing with ion bomb

Follow the ion bomber with some hard hitters moving a little slower, and pummel the ioned ship!

I'm thinking autoblaster warthogs, bossk, cobra commander, StarVipers, b-wings.

Really looking forward to this wave!

Where'd you get this name? It only shows the "Conn" part. I'm curious

Just extropolation from EU stuff. The counter looks like a Conner Net, and the card starts with "Conn....". 2+2 usually = 4, though there is the chance it wont here.

Do you think the Net "Explodes" after being triggered, or will it function like a place-able debris field, that has a chance to give an Ion token if you run into it?

I thought all bombs so far were dropped when you revealed your maneuver or as an action. Looks to be the same with Ion Bomb. You don't reveal a maneuver with SLAM you just choose one.

I really hope the effect for Conner Net is making the ship you grabbed do a 0 maneuver and gives it disabled weapons on the next round.

Yeah, I think from reading the Conner Net description from Wookiepedia, it sounds like an Ion version of the Proximity Mine.

I hope Conner net disable a ship for around or something. Once you hit it you are dead in space for a whole turn and Ion'd the next.

Well, we do have weapons disabled tokens now... Always a chance they will be worked into something more than just SLAM actions.

Seeing as how we're getting both a Conner Net and an Ion Bomb (seemingly), I think the bomb will have the usual ion token + ion damage effect, but the Net will be something different. My money is on completely preventing your opponent from moving, but not doing any damage. And the "disabled weapon" idea above sounds pretty good, too.

I've been hoping for Conner Nets for a while, and this would be just about how I see them working. Maybe 2-3 dice, take an ion token for each hit/crit? They shouldn't do much actual damage, if any. We'll have to wait and see, I suppose.

At any rate, I'm pretty happy to see all the new bombs and a way to get 2-for-1 on the Y-wings via Bomb Loadout and Extra Munitions. ICT and a pair of bombs for under 30pts isn't bad at all.

Would be interesting if the Conner Net "grabs" a ship whose maneuver template overlaps the token. i.e. the ship stops its maneuver with its base centered over the token. Not sure if there is a non-clunky way to implement that.

Well, it seems to drop as an action, big D after the header is probably to discard.

Then from zooming and squinting at pixels,

"when...

maneu...

overlaps...

token..."

My guess for this is that "When a ship base or maneuver template overlaps a conner net token, it detonates"

Keyword detonates is not really shown, perhaps the token persists, but that is unprecedented. Curious what it may do, possibly the equivalent to an ion proximity mine, seeing how they added ion bombs. Could be fun.

I agree with zero. I think you hit it and you are Ionized. Zap!

And the Card Game has a Conner Net card with a picture of a VT-49 getting Connered too.

Neat; someone somewhere linked to the wiki page. Cool idea. Can't wait to see how it works in X-wing

I'm under the impression the net will either give 2 ion token and disables weapons for the round it is passed through, and it is maintained on the field ( I mean, its a NET, not a bomb! It shouldn't disappear, right?) or there is no ion, and it disables weapons and actions the turn it is passed through...

Or some sort of combination of either...

...So in summary I have no idea what it will do, but if I were to guess, it will deal with ions, the new no weapon attack token, and/or take away actions.

Excited to see! The token looks great!

Oh, and maybe it gives stress too?

I think if it gave weapon disabled, you would see 2 weapons disabled tokens (so you could slam, drop net and opponent gets weapon disabled)

Don't the teasers like this usually show everything the ship comes with?

I totally called the Plasma Torpedo's a few months ago. Probably a bunch of other people did as well, but I was excitedly posting about mechanics that primarily damage shields rather than hull, I didn't realize at the time that Plasma Torpedo's were already a thing that did just that, I just called them Plasma Torpedo's because they sounded appropriately sci-fi and unused as a property. The K-Wings plasma torpedo's are, according to the EU, strictly anti-shield weapons meant to shut off shields before launching the rest of the K-wings payload.

I'm very excited to see it here, though I am really curious about Adv. Homing Missiles and other Adv. munitions.

Now that we've gotten that... FFG, I would now like a missile that is comprised of a dozen or so grape-shot lightsabers.
