TIE only upgrade cards with Punisher... what could they be?

By PlayerNine, in X-Wing

A few thoughts on what this card might be (note, in all cases they don't help Fighters, Interceptors, Advanced, or Phantoms):

2-turns are white, title: This would be nice as it wouldn't be in competition for anything. Defenders and some Bombers might equip it for a point. I'd have trouble paying more than a point for it, because there's not that much a 2-turn can do that a 3-turn can't.

2-turns are white, mod: This would probably have to be free for me to use it on Defenders as that slot is pretty valuable on a Defender, on Bombers, it's basically the same as above.

All turns are white, title: This is nuts, and I'd probably pay real points to get a Defender with this. You could transition from Boom-and-Zoom to Knife-Fighter from turn to-to turn. Swinging that cannon around without really going anywhere would be awesome.

All turns are white, mod: This is good, and probably worth spending a mod slot on, but it's harder to justify than the Title, because that mod slot does real work with defensive upgrades. I could most easily see paying a couple points to put it on a cannon-less Defender that you plan to use as a knife-fighter.

Except, you can make out the words: TIE only

This makes it available to the TIE fighter, advanced, bomber, defender, punisher and phantom as well as any other variants that are or ever will be.

Imagine how long "TIE defender, TIE bomber and TIE punisher only" would have been.

An upgrade that's completely redundant is effectively an upgrade you don't have. Sure you could equip "all red turns to white" on a TIE fighter, but it's got no red turns to turn.

Whether or not it fixes anything will also depend on cost. Hopefully it is cheap.

That's not necessarily a problem, though, as some of those ships already have titles and/or modifications that are pretty important to take for most builds using the ship.

And the cannon-fodder TIE Fighter is hardly something you'd spend any points upgrading, anyway, as their entire utility is in how cheap they are. Making them 'less cheap' sort of defeats the purpose.

I have to say - making this a title would be quite interesting, especially if it's good, as it suddenly means the TIE/x1 is not necessarily an auto-include on the TIE Advanced as it would conflict with this upgrade. I confess liking that idea, if for no other reason than auto-include upgrades annoy me, so having another title slot competing for the fighter's attention would be...interesting.

Why are you guys assuming it is a modification and not a title?

If it is a title it makes it less attractive on interceptors and tie advanceds and more attractive on bombers, punishes and defenders and unknown for fighters and phantoms. In other words, attractive to the ships that will need a buff to maneuvering and not attractive to those that don't.

*EDIT* The word Title also would be stated right after "X Ship Only" just as in the case of the other titles we have. Royal Guard TIE, Millennium Falcon, Moldy Crow, Outrider, IG-2000, Dauntless.

The way your saying that sounds like you mean that as evidence that it ISN'T a title, but the card looks to me like there is room for the word and, indeed, that "TIE only" is not centered by itself. Meaning it IS a title.

No, actually I meant the opposite. If the card is indeed a Title, that word is currently covered up in the fan of Upgrade cards we see. It is quite possible that it is a Title, as that would make more sense than a Modification.

If it costs more than 0 it won't go on TIE fighters. Hopefully it works like a stay on target that doesn't make the move red. Would help Rexlar and bombers quite a bit.

If it costs more than 0 it's not going on defenders either. Especially if it's a modification.
