It was a gamble, but the rebels needed to take it. Through their Bothan spies, General Dodonna learned that Grand Moff Tarkin would be visiting Sullest with only a token escort of two Victory Class Star Destroyers, along with 8 tie fighter squadrons, including the elusive "Howlrunner".
General Dodonna gathered what ships he could. Dodonna's Pride, a CR90B, the Redemption a Nebulon B. And one more CR90A and a Nebulon B (his flagship), along with 5 squadrons of Xwings.
The General chose to use a Precision Strike (Objective card).
The plan was simple. Drive the Nebs down the throats of the Vics using the Xwings for close support. The CR90s would flank on each side.
The plan started wonderfully, with Dodonna's Pride landing two critical hits on Moff Tarkin's flagship. After the action, General Dodonna gave great praise to the near suicidal run of Dodonna's Pride, as it gave the rest of the fleet critical time to obliterate Wulef Yulearn's ship (The Dominator) before Tarkin could join the battle. But we are getting ahead of ourselves.
The ties launched themselves into the death zone around the Nebulon Bs and Xwings. General Dodonna praised his luck in finding Escort frigates, as opposed to the Support frigates, as the Escort frigates ripped through the ties with their improved anti-squadron weaponry.
The Nebulons and Vic traded shots, with the the Dominator quickly losing shields. Then the CR90A made a massive strike against the Dominator, doing maximum damage (literally, it rolled the best possible result on three red dice while including a critical hit. it was AMAZING). However, the Dominator focused its fire against the Redemption, and succeeded in getting damage through its shields using its missile battery, leaving the Redemption helpless and barely functional. However the Redemption's return fire caused a life support failure on the Dominator. The tie fighters were finally removed from the battle, however the Xwing torpedoes seemed defective, causing no damage.
The Dominator was being SMASHED by the two nebulons and the CR90A... but Tarkin was finally underway again and in range. He let loose a long range volly against the Redemption and obliterated her.
That was when the Dominator turned its attention to Dodonna. General Dodonna was terrified of the Dominator's missile battery, having just witnessed the destruction wrought against Redemption. The Dominator unleashed hell on Dodonna's flagship. However, the debris from Redemption's destruction blocked the majority of the missiles and turbolasers, with only minimal damage getting through. Unfortunately, the debris field also blocked the Nebulon's return fire.
The Dominator was near death, and once again the heroic CR90A took the final shot and destroyed the Dominator.
However, this still left Tarkin's flagship closing fast against GeneralDodonna's flagship. Thankfully Dodonna's Pride once again made its presence felt on the battlefield, getting two more critical hits in past the Vic's mighty shield. Thankfully, one of those hits disrupted the Comm System on the Vic, and the much needed repair order never came.
With Xwings swarming, and CR90s circling, the Vic relentlessly pursuedDodonna. Thankfully, the Nebulon was able to redirect shields to the aft quarter, which absorbed the dying shots of Grand Moff Tarkin.
This was a great victory for the rebellion, but came at the cost of a squadron of Xwing pilots and the Redemption.
