Are you putting X-Wing to rest?

By Rottenreason, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

I love them both. I actually sort of See-Saw between which game I love the most. When Armada came out I was practically DONE with X-Wing, but then after not playing it for a few months I REALLY began to miss it and then was practically DONE with Armada. Now I want to play them both - Armada slightly more due to the new Wave 2 stuff, but X-wing is a very close 2nd.

I think it kinda boils down to which game has just launched a new wave of expansions - because then I'll have that itch to scratch.

Funny you say that...

I just bought one A Wing and TIE Interceptor to finish wave 2 of X Wing (ya know, 2 years later). And I have room in my Plano for the two ace packs and then I'm maxed out for space. (I'm pretty sure I'll spend the $40 soon)

I can find X Wing games at the local stores, so I'll go when they run them just to experience a live opponent. Plus I can spread the word of Armada. ;)

Armada is fun and a few months ago I was absolutely done with X Wing. But I recently had a X Wing gathering come up and re-spark my interest.

I for the most part am done with X-wing. I am seriously debating selling my ships and reinvesting that money into Armada. I haven't yet, as I would like to see how much further Armada will develop. I dont want to sell off X-Wing and than see Armada stall due to the lack of new ships coming out.

Armada has replaced X-wing for me almost completely. I prefer the planning required and love a table full of capital class ships vying for position and firing arcs. I won't sell of my X-wing collection, but it spends most of its time closed up.

I pulled out my X-Wing things recently after hearing a couple of players show up regularly on wedensdays. I put together and practiced a couple of lists to find one to field. I had forgotten how ridiculously easy it is for high-cost aces to be one shot... all because of green dice.

And instances like that keep me from committing as much as I did.

Perhaps in the future I'll come back, when The Assault Gunboats and TIE Avengers are depicted and there are fighters that I really want to own and fly. But right now it's hard to argue with an Imperial Star Destroyer as a playing piece.
