Wave 7 New Secondary Weapons

By LtRico, in X-Wing

Last I checked, Plasma Torpedo is 3 pts, not 4.

Connor Nets <sarcasm>Oh great</sarcasm>

Though I suppose I don't really hate the nets I hate how they were used to turn a battle I had always wanted to see detailed in the EU into a mockery. At least that is hopefully wiped away with the new canon.

I think the cluster proxi bomb will be quite neat

I imagine they will detonate separately when/if triggered.

As for how much damage they will do we will have to wait and see.

Deployment seems fairly obvious, the main one gets placed per normal bomb rules then you get to place the two smaller ones anywhere along the edge of the main token

SSo Micky mouse outline bombs will be a thing lol

New bombs are going to be very fun.

I think it's ion projection and makes you immune to ion attacks.

Bombardier is a crew not an ept.

Yup fixed it. But the problems with bombardier are almost the same with new EPTs. Just as there are a lot of good EPTs there is also a lot of good crew especially on the Rebels side. You have Lando<crew> and Chewbacca<crew>. however Bombardier can really only be used 1 per game(twice if you equip EM) and it effect is not as good as Chewbacca. With Lando you could use every turn even with Advanced SLAM.

Updated the OP with information from the TIE Punisher article.

Only the Advanced Homing Missile and the Ion Pr??? remain unspoiled.

It looks like a great wave to me to be honest...despite not fixing the underlying misgivings most people have with munitions.

I think enough has been said about their role in the competitive environment, and the criticism is valid in this regard, but I find them very useful and fun to play in casual games.

At first glance the Cluster Mines strike me as an excellent addition to the game: Unique mechanics, useful and deadly, but not overpowered.

Flew against the Jonas Bombers (Major Rhymer & Captain Jonus) casually and **** was it exciting to see my two up-hulled Scykes go from full health to smithereens in two Advanced Proton Torpedo attacks in a single round :D ...still won the match though ;)

As a diehard TIE Bomber fan and always on the lookout for a way to use Major Rhymer, I'm a bit saddened to see the Advanced Homing Missiles still haven't been revealed.

Still: EM alone makes APTs with him super amusing.

I'm with you there Comradebot...if you look real close in the Punisher pack content pic, one can see the AHM having a Range of 2, possibly 3 (also 3RD and costs 3Pts.).
If it's indeed exclusively a Range 2 munitions, Major Rhymer will be loving it given his ability...

still no word on advanced homing missiles. Wait for future spoilers.

Definitely appears to be locked into R2, which means the good Major makes it 1-3.

More restricted range, fewer dice, and it sort of looks like you don't get to keep the TL all compared to the regular Homing Missile. My guess? Works like an Autoblaster you simply won't be able to cancel little booms, or something similar. Cause with that kind of restriction, it'll have to be awesome to justify it.

If so, it becomes a **** near go-to for Rhymer. Eight points and you can double up on AHMs and Extra Munitions, allowing him to spray death at everything. If so, could run something like...

Major Rhymer

Advanced Homing Missiles x2

Extra Munitions

Howlrunner

Stealth Device

Black Squadron Pilot x3

Draw Their Fire

Only concern might be getting dice modifiers for Rhymer's attacks.

I'm pretty sure that AHMs don't consume your target lock to fire. Also, they seem to apply an unknown effect on hit, and then, they cancel all dice results.

Updated the OP with the latest intel spoiled on GenCon from various threads.

To discuss:

While we have a pretty good idea about Ion Projector now, the final effects remain unclear.

Advanced Homing Missiles - overdesigned point sink or underestimated can opener?
Given his ability, Major Rhymer seems like the natural platform for AHM, and so seems Lieutenant Blount...being able to deal unavoidable critical damage when needed could be huge (although much more situational given the Range 2 restriction).

EDIT: Also Maarek Stele...holy crap...
