How are there NO Armada players in...

By Lord Ashram, in Star Wars: Armada

... the NYC / Northern NJ area?

One of the highest population densities in the country, lots of disposable income, and nothing? WTF?

I think it's more that we don't have any large game stores. It's super frustrating though!

Right!? I am moving in a few weeks and will have a nice big dedicated wargames room with several tables, but hell, just about nobody to game with!

How is that even possible? SO many people, and nobody. I look at the dedicated forum and there are like huge groups in, like, Nashville and North Dakota and all of that.

there is Gamers Gambit in Southern CT (Danbury) that should be running events

I might have to try to make it up to danbury then. Long way to go though. Any idea how close the shop is to the metronorth station?

Weird, Portland OR has a large gamer scene with lots of LGS's (We have more of an issue deciding which one to play at along with finding a night that is not too busy.) and one of the largest game stores I have seen. (With Beer on Tap too!) I would have figured NY would have had us beat.

Sorry to hear that man.

it really suprises me too. I moved to NYC from Maryland last summer and I'm shocked there's hardly any local game stores or groups in such a big city compared to the town I used to live. From what I could find the only game store that seems to have much going on with miniatures is the Compleat Strategist in Manhattan. I'm not sure if it's a place you can just go to for a game though, besides tournaments. I did see they've done some X-Wing stuff, and even hosted a couple tournaments which they posted to youtube. Hopefully they pick up Armada as well.

Outside of that place, I haven't really seen anything that looks promising.

There's already a thriving Armada community in New York!

Games are being held at The Compleat Strategist, Nu Brand Gaming, and the Brooklyn Strategist! Casuals are being organized on the Facebook group!

Come join us! You've despaired far too early!

Nice, problem solved.

Now go open a Game Shop and serve Beer and be a wealthy man. (We can dream, right?)

Now I just need the northern NJ gamers to show up... :(

Hmmm to guess who you are. I would say you have an order in at Guardian that is about as large as my own ;-)
;)

We can test out your 3 VSD idea sometime.

Gamers Gambit has an Armada tournament this saturday actually, 180pts 1pm start.

NYC is huge...

The Complete Stategist and Twenty Sided Store (in Williamsburg NY) are great contact points

NYC Armada on Facebook is their site

Both X-wing and Armada have a good fan base.

PM me and I can send you all the information

Actually I have helped Pathfinder organize weekly games for 6 years now.

Let me do that for those who want to stay in New York, please PM me for my email.

Thanks!

Also I make a mean margarita and good sangrias.

Also I have a huge roof deck we can play in but have to figure a way to get those fighters not to be blown away.

You know.. Moving back to Minneapolis ain't so bad now that I think about it. Hello FFG game center :P I feel your pain though. Was living in northern NH where there were only 6 other gamers who didn't play magic exclusively.

I have a good amount coming and I am on the Armada Facebook and guessing who I am is easy when you know my last name. Hint, it is on the forums here. ;)

Will have to be after Wave 1 but by then I think the idea will be mitigated unless I can borrow one more VSD for that match.

You can thank all the people who buy from online retailers for that...

It would appear that another first world problem/crisis has been solved...

All is right in the world again. ;)

Certainly doesn't help, but I think the real issue is the overhead associated with maintaining a storefront in manhattan.

Gents, can we get a Manhattan group up and running?

Isn't there already one up and running that was mentioned in post 8 of this thread?

Alas my step father is in Politics and I have never been on Facebook as a result. My occupation would be ... in conflict with his work.
