You guys all forgot about the Tie Advanced.
Defender fix incoming!!!
I don't think the Advanced has a one hard (it was banks if I remember right, been so long
)
plus, if it's a title then no Tie/x1 (and no tie advance
)
if it's a mod, then no EU for vader ![]()
Errrr, if it's Twin Ion Engine as an upgrade, what the hell drive system are my TIEs using at the moment?!

judging by the noises they make, mutant kittens on hamster wheels

Given the spacing there has to be another word after "engine". Someone suggested "twin ion engine ace" if it is a title, but also might be "mk.2" or something similar if it is a mod.
Might be room for Twin Ion Engine Mk 2 or some such. Tie advanced has all white turns and banks.
My guess is all hard turns as white. Helps out Defenders, Bombers, and Pyoonishers. Card says Tie Only simply because it is simpler that way. Other Tie's could take it but it does nothing. Just like putting targeting computer on a bomber.
Has anyone noticed that there are 4x Ion tokens coming with the TIE Punisher expansion?
I suspect that 2x of those belong to the Ion Mine/Bomb, as the K-Wing too comes with the Ion Mine/Bomb and 2x Ion tokens.
However, there being 2x Twin (Ion?) Engine cards coming with the Punisher and them being the only duplicate cards they could very well be the source for the additional Ion tokens.
Mhmhmhmmmmmmm...
The ion bomb looks like it detonates like a seismic charge, so it is probably giving an ion token (or two?) to every ship within range one of it, so you could hit several ships with one of them. Hence the extras.
you may treat all <bank> maneuvers as <turn> maneuvers?
Edited by negative9Well, the K-Wing comes with the same Ion [Mine/Bomb], and only has 2 Ion tokens, so these are clearly connected to ensure the ion effect on a large base with one hit.
If the Ion [Mine/Bomb] would have some sort of collateral effect, the K-Wing expansion would be equipped with more than those 2x Ion tokens, I would think...

to ion large ships you need two ion tokens, so I would not be surprised if the bomb does that.Has anyone noticed that there are 4x Ion tokens coming with the TIE Punisher expansion?

Sure, but the K-Wing has the same bomb, and only has two tokens.
Doesn't seem like it's related to the Advanced Concussion Missile or Plasma Torpedoes, either - both of those are also in the K-Wing kit, as well as the TIE: Pu.
Not really sure I see an obvious reason why the TIE: Pu has twice as many ion tokens. Maybe something related to the cluster mines, or to one of the named pilots? I sort of double it's the engine thing, but who knows, maybe it is.
I believe the two tokens do indicate that the ion thingy will ionize large bases
the ion thingy's template is far more similar to the proximity mine than any of the bomb currently present, so I have my suspicions that it'll be a mine as well (which then leads to the suspicion that it will work like prox mines and affect a single target, which then leads to the suspicion that those 2 ion tokens are reserved for that mine...I am a very suspicious guy
).
nevermind, the bomb template is the ion thingy and the mine template is something else entirely. It is perhaps possible that the twin (something. Ion?) engine will use ion tokens (so a burst of speed at the cost of ionizing your own ship)
Edited by ficklegreendiceI just don't see enough text on that card for it to be giving you a token in addition to an effect.

it's very possible that you're right
the only other things I can think of for the extra tokens:
a.) more space in the box (as opposed to the k-wing)
b.) (more exciting) it factors into a pilot ability ![]()
you'll have to forgive me if the PS 6's text has already been deciphered. My poor eyes only hurt themselves trying to glean text from the image ![]()

It hasn't. There isn't enough visible to make an educated guess. Though, looking at it, it does look like the word "dropped" on the last line, so bomb related is likely.
In another thread there has been some discussion that the lightning reflexes card from the kihraxz set, that looks like it spins you around 180 degrees is not scum only, but small ship only. If that is true, and our reading of the text is right, it could be given to a tie defender who could use it to turn around in place, then execute a white k-turn and effectively do a 4-straight in reverse.
Not really a "fix" for the defender, but certainly a cool trick that would have some uses and that nobody else could do.
You may...
manuever(s?)...
m...
Hm... anyone care to speculate?
You may make many
maneuvers, by mainly
moving miniatures.
I'd rather make manly maneuvers, personally.

You just make sure you eat your vegetables and listen to your mom, and one day you'll grow up to be a big strong man.
It would be cool if it's something that works for Tie Fighters, too. I mean, you probably don't need it for Academies. What about something that turns things green, though? Nightbeast just got better! He would have more greens to then Barrel Roll or Evade every turn.
Far left field guess:
You may choose any green manoeuvre when you have an ion token. Not likely at all, but could be cool. They ARE twin ION engines afterall.
So what if this is the fix? It improves the dial...ok ...but at what cost? Would you play a delta for 32 points? What about 31 points? Whats the chances FFG thinks the defender is over priced as well at hands out this upgrade at zero points?
My guess is that it will cost between 1-2 points.
I hope its only 1 point.
My best guess would be that all 2 speed maneuvers green, because the R2 is 1 point and changes ALL 1 and 2 speed maneuvers to green, and unhinged changes ALL 3 speed maneuvers to green. The ties rarely uses 1 speed maneuvers, unless they need to clear stress, so I don't think it will effect 1 speed maneuvers. I think it will be 1 point, which is good and bad, because it is cheap, but takes up a modification (unless it's a title, which I highly doubt).
I'm probably putting to much thought into this, but I hope this help!
