Official Wave 8 Speculation Thread!

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

Wave 8 = small, agile, and fast starfighters

Imperial = Tie/Hunter http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE/HU_Hunter_multi-role_starfighter

Rebellion = Cutlass-9 http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Cutlass-9_patrol_fighter

Scum = G1-A Mist Hunter http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mist_Hunter

Mist Hunter is the only interesting thing in this group.

I think looks wise the TIE/Hunter is one of the better "rearrange wings TIEs". The question would be what it should be role wise.

To be honest that Mist Hunter seems like another ugly ships designed by some more or less mediocre artist/model designer. This top rectangular is exactly what? And why is the rest of the ship round and based on oval/round shapes/design with that thing on top? Remember thats just my opinion.

ASSAULT GUNBOAT!!!!!!!

I haven't created a dupe account, I swear.

Why dear sir, I do believe that's an aerofoil designed to assist in atmospheric flight. Or it could be part of the ship's repulsorlift tech. Did that sound convincing? I hope so.

Given the size of the rest of the vessel it seems not fit for that feature. You cant call that wings am im sure shaped like that they wouldnt work.

I ahve to add that i don't think everything in science fiction has to work with current physics: However if you claim they are there to do exactly that, i think im allowed to doubt it even considering my former statement.

No. Not wings. Aerofoil.

Think less "aeroplane" and more "helicopter". Do helicopters have huge wings?

The repulsorlift systems provide lift. The engines acceleration. The aerofoil is there for atmospheric stability & micromaneuvering.

Sry still not convinced. Those foils dont look like beeing movable. And despite the function my main problem with it is its ugliness. It just doesnt fit the rest of the design. With some rearrangement there could be a decent design in there.

NO WILD CARD! :angry:

You don't get to make that call, Boss! :P

Yeah me cans!!!

Get BUSY FFG... or do I gottah make both of these?!?!?!

:lol::D^_^

What is the Rampager from?

One of my crazy projects.

:)

I really hope that the Tie Hunter will never be made for X-Wing.

Its just a less stable and somewhat ugly looking TIE Interceptor

Yes...that ship with shields, torpedoes and ion cannons...totally like an Interceptor...

TIE Defender then?

As a layman collector in it for the ships, my dream list for future Waves will always be:

1. Skipray Blastboat

2. Lady Luck/Jades Fire

3. Jedi Defender (Old Republic, yeah yeah I know, a man can dream)

4. Wild Karrde

5. Assault Gunship

Being a shade more realistic though, I'd be very surprised if we don't see a combined SW:Rebels/Awakens Wave in the near future.

(Probably the Imperial Transport and the Ghost from Rebels)

Long time browser first time poster, be gentle ;)

I'm reasonably confident that we'll see an HH-87 Starhopper for the Scum sooner rather than later.

Well, they're delving pretty far past the battle of endor with the E wing and K wing, so I'm hoping for TIE droid fighters; tie stats, 4 hull to account for more armor (no squishy pilot to protect!) And a dial like an IG 2000

TIE/D Droid

attack 2

Agility 3

Hull 3

Shield 0

Evade, barrel roll (no focus)

Upgrades limited to mods and titles, no EPTs.

Cost 10 for PS 1

Not even Sure if unique pilots with skills even make sense. I could see PS1, 3, 5 and maybe 6.

I would also say maybe this should be a title for the existing TIE/ln, because I'm not sure I would want to buy yet another att 2 ship in this game, even if I could field 10 of em. Those would be some naked dice on he Droid.

I'm thinking they might do something unconventional; imagine 4 'pilots', all skill 2-4, with special abilities, ie, defensive protocols, every time you do x, you get x like IGs

The TIE Droid is so far down the line of TIEs deserving to be in the game...

The TIE Droid is about as deserving as the TIE Interdictor, umm I mean Punisher.

It's actually one of two remaining TIEs that's different enough to warrant inclusion.

The other one being the Clawcraft.

It's sort of annoying that we're practically out of viable Rebel fighters, given how much Imp stuff is left. I could actually sort of see the A-9 Vigilance as a Republic fighter given its design language and role in Dark Empire.

Wrong as usual.

Not even a real TIE.

Not everything is meant to shore up your daydreams, and they could honestly use some trimming.

Comes from the Imps being the opposing force in most of the space sim and space sim light games I suspect and the designers of those games feeling that the enemies needed a wider variety of fighters then the players. Rebel A-9s might be interesting. I would love to know what happened to the A-8 as well. (A-7s were very early Imperial fighters probably from a design project already underway when the Republic became the empire., A-6s were Old Republic fighters at least 20 years old when the Clone Wars started. If A-9s were really a brand new design in 9 ABY then the A-8s were probably contemporaries of, or slightly newer then the TIE Interceptor IMO. In fact in a shor tlived Roleplay campaign my character was part of the A-8 design team before sabotaging the project and defecting to the Alliance. I never bothered drawing up any stats for the design though.)

Are there any ships with astromech slots left for the rebels? They could use some more astro options for X-wings and E-wings

There are already like 12 mech-slot cards, do they really?

I mean, I'll grant that about half of those are pretty much lackluster, but still...

I figure it would be a good way to help those ships out without doing a boring title fix

Nope. My wants are best wants.
