I can't see how FFG would introduce the Tie Avenger. Just too similar in appearance and roll to existing ships. Vaksai, same problem. I'm expecting that the Kirhaxzkqztf is going to be the only ship of that ilk we will see. Could be wrong...

The X-Wing fix is most certainly coming post-The Force Awakes (with the new X-Wing model). I think wave 8 will be pre-TFA.

Wow. This is so sad. Wave 7 is just spoiled, and already you are speculating about the next wave.
Be thankful I didn't make this thread a couple days ago when I was thinking about it.
Anyway, I don't see what's sad about it. We're excited about the future of the game; don't spoil our fun.
As for my speculation:
Rebels: Scurrg H-6 (large base)
Empire: TIE Avenger (small base)
Scum: JumpMaster 5000 (large base)
Scum: G-1A Starfighter (small base)
I'd have said Assault Gunboat, but FFG has made it clear they will only make TIEs.
Yeah, I walked into a conversation about the Missile Boat at Celebration. One of the devs ended up saying "I know why we *really* haven't made it yet," or something along those lines. I should have asked why.
Yes - yes you should - not that I care too much for the missile boat or gunboat but it would be an interesting insight.

I will again point out that gameplay needs might overrule the "what ship is left" philosophy.
1. The Empire is missing a small turret ship.
2. The Rebels are missing a Cloak ship
3. Scum are missing both.

Asymmetric warfare is asymmetric. I would put forth that the empire don't need a small turret ship, instead having the rear arc firespray.
Rebels don't need no stinking cloak.
Scum have weird arcs too with Spray and toothy. oh and Y-wings. and HWKS.. So really they have all the small turret.
I'm not saying that the Empire won't get a TIE Aggressor for example for a small turret(really rear arc) or Rebels won't get some nifty cloak ship. But they don't need them just because the opposing faction has them.

Ooowww, I haven't bought anything of wave 5 or 6 yet, let alone we're able to grab wave 7. But....
Speculation is fun! So here goes:
Scum: Punishing One
Imperial: TIEAggressor
Rebel: something new out of Episode VII
Before wave 8 there will be a repaint box-set:
Scum: a Z-95 in Nastah Pup colors
Imperial: a TIE/sa Bomber repaint in grey with two white vertical sidestripes on each side
Rebel: a Corsec Green X-wing (this must be about the 10th time I bring this up )

You could have said that about the Punisher, but they made it anyway. The Avenger is essentially a super Interceptor in the same way that the Punisher is a super Bomber. S-loop and a new beam slot would differentiate it more than enough (it was the first fighter to equip a beam weapon according to the wookiee).
People need to let go of the notion that only one ship can fill a role. It doesn't matter if more than one ship fills a role as long as they do it in a unique way. All the roles are just subsets or combinations of two main roles anyway: deal damage or support your squad.
If the punishing one (jump master 5000) shows up, I truly hope it has an asymmetrical flight style and port and aft secondary arcs. I want the ship to have red starboard turns, and white and green port. I want the ship to be like a predator circling its prey, predictable but vicious. A shark circling around a life boat.
I would like to see the TIE scout, in a role similar to the HWK - a ship that is not a strong combatant, but has lots of tricky options like providing target locks, removing cloak tokens/evade tokens, etc. no turret.
For the rebels, well, the Havoc (scurrg -6?) would be nice.

The TIE Punisher really throws a wrench into any grounded predicting (versus wish listing.)
So far every single wave has included at least one canon ship.
Waves have varied from 2-4 expansion packs.
Seems like Wave 8 will be 3 expansions, 1 for each faction.
And either taken from (in order from most likely to least likely):
Considering the tendencies from FFG I would say Wave 8 will be:
REBELS:
The X4 Gunship or the Nova Courier. Particularly the X4 Gunship fits a role that the rebellion doesnt have, a big ship heavy armored without turret. Or the Nova Courier as the Rebel's Shuttle
SCUM & VILLAINY
Here we will have two, a Bounty Hunter and one of Galaxies fighters.
The Punishing One or the Mist Hunter. Probably the Punishing One. Its ugly, but most known. And there you have the turret for S&V
And for the Galaxies fighter I would say is the turn for the Kimogila or the Krayt Gunship. Mainly because its very different from the rest and also fits one new role for scum

I really dont know. The fact that FFG has ignored ships like the Skipray Blastboat, R41 Starchaser or the Assault Gunboat makes me think they dont really care about the old X-Wing games. So my bet goes for:

Is your Spider Sense tingling? It will be, with all the all new Radioactive and X-Factor upgrade cards.

My speculation was close in target change but way off in actuals for wave 7. I had expected a heavy ordinance fix via a dual faction aces pack that didn't expand the products model line. Was hoping for 'Bomber Aces' with alt art Y-wing and TIE Bomber. Close, but also way off what we actually got. But I'll take what credit I can get.
Honestly I have no idea what will be coming out next. I do wonder though if they won't revamp the starter kit at some point and do a SW:TFA version with updated rules, full token set for obstacles, and new models of X-wings and TIE's with minor expanding content for them. If for no other reason then so they don't have to shove all these rules update cards in to new expansion packs until they come up with new ones.

Rebels can have the nova, and military issue ships.
Fact remains that the YT series were used by scum/pirates more so than the rebels. and let us never forget that Han Solo did not start as a rebel. Just like the firespray, the YT should also be scum for logics sake and nought else.
