Official Wave 8 Speculation Thread!

So, I would absolutely LOVE to hear how there was no space for the Avenger in between the Advanced and the Defender, but there was apparently space there for the Inquisitor TIE.

Seriously, FFG just said "**** you" to your argument.

Tie Avenger

Intercepter only title (so no royal guard tie combo)

Gain a System slot.

done.

That's...not even close. You just made an Avenger with no shields or missiles...

Possibility 1: Executive meddling required them to give us a Rebels ship, and the Inquisitor's Tie fit the bill

Possibility 2: What they actually meant was, "A ship we have in the works is taking up that space" and this is that ship.

It's nothing FFGs said. I was talking about people in this thread saying there was no place in the game for the Avenger.

But instead, we're getting a ship that's even MORE like the standard Advanced than the Avenger is. So their argument is now in pieces.

Easy: Is the TIE Avenger on TV right now? No. Is the Inquisitor TIE? Yes. Does that mean huge visibility already established and ongoing? Yes.

Basic money-making logic. Plus it fit the "Rebels" bill of "We're doing the Ghost so we need an Imp ship not yet in our line-up."

Look, I'm not saying it's not the smart business decision. I'm just saying all this bull**** people were saying about FFG upholding the integrity of the game and not cashing in on ships with overlapping roles was just that, complete bull****.

Ah. I misunderstood. While I suppose this is technically a vindication for your argument (So, congratulations, I guess. You told us so), I think the argument against the Avenger is now, "We don't need 3 Tie Advanced Variants in the game."

You're right. But since I absolutely love the TIE Avenger. I despise this decision and wanted to expose the purely capitalist thinking behind it. ;)

Old-school models FTW! Long live the Legends! Down with the new canon!

(So, congratulations, I guess. You told us so),

I'm not happy about it. I don't like the Inquisitor TIE.

Granted. But my argument becomes "Since roles are not a thing FFG cares about, we'll get the Avenger eventually, when they run out of other ships to add."

I mean, it was already 4th on my list of most wanted TIEs anyway, so I don't care if it's not coming for a long time. I just felt people saying it wouldn't ever happen because of reasons they made up themselves were being dumb.

Fair enough. But looking through the Rebels wookieepedia pages, it doesn't look like the show is overflowing with options for a Rebels ship for the Empire.

EDIT: Finished going through episode by episode. The Inquisitor's Tie was literally the only new starfighter for the Empire.

Let me just say kudos to the OP in this thread, at least in the identifying the ship correctly, if not the rules (though we don't know how much you can run it up in points just yet).
