I still think the Star Jewel is sort of the natural choice for Scum huge, with maybe the Action and Gozanti filling the GR75 holes in Scum and Imperial fleets down the line (I know Gozanti would make more sense as rebel in the incredibly loose timeframe we're working with...maybe I just like Mel's Imperial model too much). The Jewel brings in a recognized OT character and is the right size to hang with the Raider and CR90. The dawn of dual-crew upgrades and a Z95 deployment mechanic could be further hints in this direction, but who knows.

To be honest, the Gozanti, Action VI and Minstrel-class yacht are all perfect for X-Wing Epic scale battles. And oh, lookit that - add those three and we'd have 2 Rebel, 2 Imperial and 2 Scum Epic ships.

I'm not a huge fan of either the YT-2000 or the Ghost either, but come on. No need to be so negative. It's just a speculation thread after all.

My personal X-Wing guilty fantasy is the Hapan Battle Dragon, but that's got less than a snowball's chance in Bermuda.

I'd personally like to complete my light freighter trifecta by adding the Ghost. Doesn't look as good as either YT, but I'd certainly add it to my collection.

It's actually /not/ that ugly other than the canopy structures, but it's not very likely at all given previous dev comments re:artstyle integration and timeframe

It's an ugly ship! The first reaction of Luke when he sees it is calling it "piece of junk". And that before even knowing how terrible it's systems were hacked together after years of dubious modifications.

If anything, the YT-2000 is the "pretty" ship from Corellian Egineering, made for the rich businessman. It was the one piloted by Ace Azameen's father. The owner of the family company.

Symmetric, not covered in beige grime, better visibility and design overall.

Anyway, I thought it was quite clear than in Star Wars, the uglier a ship is, the cooler it is.

I'm genuinely curious why people think that this game would avoid the only active, 100% canon, directly in the timeframe source we have: Star Wars: Rebels.

Not only do people not like Rebels as a possible source material, but they feel certain about it not being included. Simply put: why?

I don't particularly like the Ghost, but I can't imagine it not showing up in this game.

I agree it might not "feel" quite right, in some sense, but think of new, original art work on the cards, etc. It could be made to fit in perfectly. We wouldn't even need to see any art of any of the characters from the show.

Furthermore, I could see both FFG wanting to do it and Disney wanting them to do it.

FFG has definitely surprised me with what they've chosen thus far, so I have to say I really have no amount of certainty as to what they will and will not add.

When I first heard they had come out with a new rebel fighter called E-Wing, back in the 90's, I was all hyped to actually see it in the comics or in the games.

When I finally got to see it...

I was like... like...

In that Simpsons episode that Homer makes holes on his car for more speed and coolness.

So they took away two wings from the X-Wing, and with one of the spare cannons they put it on top, like a horn... or something.

I had never before seen anything that could match so well the concept of "lazy uninspired design", as that design did.

maybe if you throw things the bad taste (you know it's bad taste when JBR7 agrees with you) will leave your mouth with them~

1. It's too fat vertically. Pie-plate ships look really odd when they have multiple external levels.

2. The central cockpit structure is awful. The only reason it worked on the Falcon and 2400 is the asymmetry, and the 2000 takes it a step further and hacks the hull away from most of the connecting corridor, resulting in a really ugly gap.

3. Windows on the corridor facing THE HULL. This is retarded.

4. Airlock collars aren't CEC standard.

5. Back to the fatness, the hexagonal hull sections leading to the airlocks have a nasty hull angle revealing them. On the Falcon, this angle is quite shallow and not a jarring transition.

There's all sorts of smaller issues, but it's an awful design. If they want to add more CEC ships they need to stop with the pie-plates and work on the freight trains. The YV-666 was a good start, and both the YV-330 and YV-929 are better designs than the YT-2000.

That said I'd take the proper Baudo/Pulsar Skate over ANY CEC ship any day of the week.

I could see a Gunboat/Blastboat wave coming:

Empire: X1 Starwing

Scum: Skipray Blastboat

Rebels: X4 Gunship or something similar

@Evanger: Most people (me included) are sure FFG isn't going to to any Rebels stuff, because they only bought the rights for the OT and the Expanded Universe. And I don't think they wanna mess up the two continueties by putting ships of Disney Canon into a game based on OT and Legends Canon as long as there are plenty of ships in the EU/Legends.

That said I'd take the proper Baudo/Pulsar Skate over ANY CEC ship any day of the week.
