Official Wave 8 Speculation Thread!

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

Well what about the introduction of objectives? Could fit well into a new boxed Episode 7 set.

And to be honest its needed. At some point its getting boring to play 100p dogfight and so far the few missions are more thematically than competitive. It would also add another point to take into account for list building and would probably also change the tournament environment were only shot down fighters count and a decimator with 1HP left is ignored for scoring.

I would like to see 150 point as standard mode and a max. number of ships limit (6-7 is fine) (No, I don't want to play against 12 TIE). Or 100 point + 30 for cards...

...And more new starships of course!

If they do this, an 8 ship limit per small base ship seems fairly adequate (as opposed to 12 in epic play). Maybe a limit on large as well, 6?

Here's your daily fix, X-Wingers. Enjoy.

Thats a nice piece of artwork here. But ... do proton torpedoes even work in planetary atmospheres? It don't look like this Gunboat is attacking in space on this picture...

Those are missiles, I believe.

TIEs probably shouldn't be able to fly sideways either, but they do.

Gunboats have been a part of planetary assaults since before Battle of Yavin.

As seen in TOD1 cutscene 1, Xwing.

I would like something similar. Not sure if those numbers are perfect but i think the idea behind it is correct.

... So, 3 IG-2000s or 6 B-wings is fine, but god forbid we have a full squadron of Tie Fighters?

If FFG were to increase the point limit, I really hope they do not limit the number of ships. Swarms should be, well, swarms.

You don't get to make that call, Boss! :P

But, as far as Scum huge ships go, I think we're in a field of two: The Wild Karrde vs the Star Jewel:

Personally, I'd be fine with either!

I'd lean toward the Star Jewel- Most of the heroic smugglers (Dash and a number of lesser known smugglers like Nera Dantels are the ones I'm thinking of, not Han- He joined officially, after all) seem to be classified as Rebels. A noble guy like Karde working with Xixor or IG-88 just doesn't make sense.

Drea Renthal at least worked with Han, and against the Empire, at the Battle of Nar Shaddaa. She was a pirate, but not an especially malevolent one.

Until after Heir to the Empire, Karrde wasn't an especially noble guy, either.

I could see the Scum faction being pretty mixed - some fairly honorable by pirate or smuggler standards - some much less so.

Yeah, Emon Azzameen's hardly a bad guy, either. He might well have been the most reckless of the family and certainly the most independent, but he still has closer affiliations with the Alliance than he does the Black Sun or the Hutts (for example).

Emon's presence in S&V opens up a bit of a can of worms actually, because I imagine most X-Wing: Alliance vets would like to see him flying alongside Aeron and Ace at some point.

I said something like this. They could also restrict large base ships.

The problem i see with too many fighters is that everything gets blocked at some point. The bases, maneauvers as well as the rules arent meant for 24 ships meeting at the same point. Of course it still works and you can play around it. And of course you could say in ecic you can have even more. But i think in this case its not so much the question what is but what should be.

Also i think the point of the original poster was that you could actually equip some of the more expensive ships in the game and have more than two fighters on the field.

Action VI is awesome!

That's why I preferred the Star Wars Galaxies term for the unaligned ships, Privateers.

Scum & Villainy implies that they're all badguys. Pirates and gangsters and assassins. But the faction could also include traders, mercenaries, bounty hunters and the like who are not necessarily bad people, they're just people who aren't in the Empire or the Rebellion that are being paid to do jobs.

I prefer facing a full squadron of TIE fighters anytime over facing a half squadron of B-wings.

3 IG-2000's, bweeh..., does that even still count as a dog fight?

Or both.

And where is BoShek?! He's the scummiest scum that ever scummed a scum. Or something. Smugglers and gamblers are the same as gangsters and bounty hunters, right?

What is the Rampager from?

Rebels: Ghost

Imperial: TIE Avenger

Scum: an arc Dodgers with a manuver dial like the A-wing

I think they might just stick with 3 this wave because i dont think they really need to boost the amount of ships for either faction after wave VII.

Wave 8 = small, agile, and fast starfighters

Imperial = Tie/Hunter http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE/HU_Hunter_multi-role_starfighter

Rebellion = Cutlass-9 http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Cutlass-9_patrol_fighter

Scum = G1-A Mist Hunter http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mist_Hunter

I really hope that the Tie Hunter will never be made for X-Wing.

Its just a less stable and somewhat ugly looking TIE Interceptor
