Wave 7 Article is up!

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

There's a lot of interesting new stuff here. The Nashtah Pup deployment is awesome. I'm still concerned about the fixes with the K-Wing and Punisher though. I really, really hope they wanted to do those ships, and didn't pick them because they wanted an excuse to add Bomber/TIE fixes. There is no reason why they can't find other places to print those while continuing to do ships they'd rather do.

Here is the SLAM card

swx33_card_ref_04.png

And this is good for...? I don't get it. So now I can get in great position to...drop a bomb maybe?

It is a cool flanker tool, but I don't see the K-Wing being a great flanker.

What does this card pair with that I am missing?

Adrenaline Rush lets you do this off of your Koiogran.

If this has Segnors' Loops instead, it gets insane

Particularly if either is Speed 3 or lower.

It also works beautifully with an Intelligence Agent as a blocker. Pity you don't have a large base for Anti-Pursuit lasers.

Alas, the last line of the card means you can't use it with Advanced Sensors. Doing your X Forward/Turn followed by an X Koiogran....

Just to throw this out there, none of the K-Wing pilots look like they have access to EPTs, same with the Punisher Pilots.

But FUTURE slam ships?

Besides, when have they ever introduced new action slots that wernt used by other ships?

(phantom+cloak, GR75+Jam...)

Yeah the missile boat introduced SLAM to star wars.

In that case, Experimental Interface and Mines (Proximity or Cluster).

Or, hell, the Advanced SLAM modification, which is cheaper and doesn't stress, but doesn't work if you run into someone on the SLAM action.

Any idea what the Twin Ion Engines mod does? Could it be the Defender fix folks are looking for :)

I hope so! Modification that makes all 1 or 1 or 2 turns green. Like the Astromech that does the same.

Slam actually executes a maneuver, the req for non action bombs, so you could do a 3 straight, drop a bomb, then do a 3 bank.

Instead of waiting for the enemy to get behind you, drop a bomb, then move

So you're saying you could drop cluster mines, reveal dial maneuver, drop second cluster mines, slam maneuver? On multiple K-wing in a single turn?

A ship can't drop more than one bomb a turn.

Yes. That seems to be the case.

And depending on precisely how it's implemented, it's going to make Hound's Tooth really, really nasty in tournaments. Just as you burn down a really tough ship, it pops another ship on the board (giving it the durability of Cdr. Kenkirk's Decimator between native 1 Agility and now 4 additional hit points).

Critical tactic in a timed game: kill the Hound's Tooth first!

With cluster mines you don't need too -- you're dropping the equivalent of three.

Actually, I thought the FAQ stated you can only drop one bomb per turn.

It looks like the ordnance fix is 2 part so far.

1st part is this:

And the second part seems to be in the form of alot of new missiles and torpedoes.

Sigh.

I do not like this fix. It doesn't address the action economy problem with munitions, which is much worse than the single use aspect, and it makes them even more expensive to equip. How often during a game am I likely to even spend more than one of those ordnance tokens? Probably not very often.

EDIT: Wait. It goes in the Torpedo slot.

...How is this a fix at all? To equip it I have to surrender one of my slots. Most ships can't even use it.

What.

Nera Dantels, Horton Salm and Krassis Trelix all think you're knee jerk reaction is uncalled for.

I got excited but had a rethink. Edited my post. One bomb per turn per ship... but could probably place a full row across the map with 3 kwings

Thus was born my "Good Luck Flying Through This" list

I had a brainfart as well, but yes. That would be excellent.

If this turns out to be true it makes the defender very viable

DEADEYE IS SO USEFUL NOW

On the appropriate ships.

Crap the K-Wings and Interdictors have no pilots with EPT.

Deadeye + Fully Loaded munitions bomber (Rhymer or Jonus) + Extra Munitions + Munitions Failsafe = highly efficient long ranged explodey shooter

How do you SLAM after dropping Mines? SLAM can't be a free action and you just used your action to drop the mines.

Perhaps more importantly bombers, Rhymer with a 2 pt second APT shot? He might be worth his increased price tag now

I just realized that Bossk counters Chewie. Perfect theme.

These are some fun teasers. I'm intrigued.
